Vehicle Detail

1979 Chevrolet Camaro Rally Sport True Camaro Rally Sport! Factory color scheme and stripe kit the car was built with. The car was repainted properly in August of 2011. Here is a run down of what the car is. Starting at the rear suspension. It has a 1970 Z28 12 bolt rear end (code COZ) with a limited slip, 373 gears. The rear springs were replace with Hotchkis TVS system. The spring system (front and rear) lowered the car 2 inches. TVS sway bars were added to the rear differential. Rear traction bars were added. They are the adjustable Caltrack system. Caltracks are the best traction bars available for leaf spring cars! The brake wheel cylenders were replaced, new brake shoes installed. Moser axels were installed along with new bearings and seals. Moving toward the front of the car, Hotchkis subframe connectors were added. They are the weld in to the rear frame and bolt in to the rear portion of the front sub frame. They follow the contour of the bottom of the body closely, not hanging low like other brands of sub frame connectors. At the front sub frame, all moving parts were replaced. New brakes, calipers, master cylinder, brake booster were replaced. The Engine is a 1975 Chevrolet 400 Small Block. Punched 030 over, made to a 406 cu inch. 64cc combustion chamber aluminum heads were added to the top of the engine, Comp Cams CL12-602-4 flat tappet cam, 500/486 lift, 295/313 duration. Induction, Holly 750 Double pumper sits atop apolished Edelbrock Air Gap intake manifld. Ignition is Accell HEI Distributor with MSD 8.8MM wires. Other Goodies. Edelbrock water pump, elelbrock fuel pump, Aluminum radiator, March serpentine belt system, Factory style clutch fan and shroud. Exhause. Hooker super comps, ceramic coated inside and out, 2 ½ inch pipe with an X, flow master mufflers, duels dump behind the rear tires. Transmission is a professional performance built GM 2004R overdrive trans. Manual/automatic valve body with 2800 rpm stall, B&M Shifter. Wheels andtires arerecently new American Racing torque thrusts ii’s wrapped in BF Goodrich Radial T/A Tires, 235/60/15 front, 255/60/15 rear. This Authentic 79 Camaro Rally Sport’s body is solid! It has just over 76000 miles on it and there is NO RUST Anywhere that I am aware of! The interior of this beauty is all original! Other items added to it was the B&M console shifter to operate the 4 speed automatic transmission. A Grant GT Steering wheel was added, Auto meter gauges along with the factory ones work and keep constant monitoring of the engine functions. The clock in the dash was replaced with a quarts clock, the original ones fail to operate after just a few years. This one keeps perfect time! The car was built with all options. I have a copy of the build sheet. The Air conditioning on the car does not work. As seen in the engine pictures, the air conditioning compressor is not installed on the car. Also the air conditioning condenser is not installed. The car will come with those items so the new owner can decide to either add them and make the air conditioning functionable again or leave it off, just as I have (It was inoperable when I purchased the car.) The Car was built in California and sold new in SLC, Utah. It has lived it's entire life in Utah. The dealership it was sold at new applied heavy undersealing to the underside of the car. It was them doing that that saved it from rusting away, like these 2nd gen Camaros do. I purchased the car in November 2010, now the 4th owner. The car was all original in appearance with 72304 miles on the odometer. The car was taken 90% apart and repainted in 2011. It was stripped to bare medal and repainted by a pro body/paint tech locally. All panels were removed, glass was removed and any surface rust that was found was media blasted out. No rust through spots were found in this car. The 2nd gen has some trouble spots where they typically rust out. They are, at the lower corners of the dash/windshield areas, the rear glass areas and the floor pans. Most all of these rust out due to rotted glass seals and accumulation of dirt, leaves etc that hold moisture. This Camaro was SOLID in all areas. Pictures were taken of the repaint process to document how solid this Camaro is. When the panels went back on the car, new clips and bolts were used, new both uppers and lower door hinges were put on the doors (Door hinges on these cars wear out due to the massive weight of these doors.) A new steel cowl AMD hood was ordered and installed on the car. All other panels, bumpers, lights, trim are original! New seals/rubber was installed on the car everywhere needed (Doors, uppers and lowers, window felts, lock seals and trunk seal. The car has been driven all over the valley to various car shows and gatherings. It has won 3 trophies at car shows for “best of class.” This past September the car was taken to the filming of “Top Gear (USA) at the Miller Sports Park in Tooele, Utah. The 3 guys from the show (Tanner Fouse, Rutledge Wood and Adam Ferrah) looked over the car and gave their blessing of the build by signing the rear spoiler. Just over 3300 miles have been put on the car since it was rebuilt/restored. I chose to have it built this way due to it was already a modified car when I bought it. It had the 12 bolt rear end, the 400 engine in it and had a Harwood, cowl induction, fiberglass hood. The hood did not fit the car very well and was replace with a much better fitting AMD, steel, cowl hood. I forgot to mention in the original add this factoid. Back in September of last year, the car was driven to a local Motor Sports Park where I was part of the crew for an episode of Top Gear USA. It was the show titles "Adams Show" and the story was "Car Football." I was one of the wrench hands on the teams that repaired the cars in play (Team yellow and team red) as the show was being filmed. At the end of the filming all 3 of the characters (Adam Ferrara, Tanner Foust and Rutledge Wood) looked over this Camaro and approved of the car by signing the rear spoiler. This Camaro is a beautiful example of an era gone past. It is one of a kind! An eye catcher! All of my family and friends think I am nuts for selling it. The fact is, I am interested in purchasing a different car. If it weren’t for that, this Camaro would stay in my Garage. Buyer is responsible for pick up/shipping. A deposit of $2000.00 required no less than 24 hours after auction ends. Good luck and happy bidding!
