2008 Big Red Honda XR650L 1500 original miles I am the second owner, and a former factory trained mechanic. The original owner was partially disabled, rode the bike home and decided he couldn't really manage it. It had 7 miles on it in 2010 when I purchased it. This was my first dirt bike in about 35 years. I bought it with visions of riding with my wife, and doing some off road trips out west. On our frist trip my wife had a spill on her bike, getting a massive hematoma on her leg. She hasn't been too excited about riding much since. The majority of the miles are on fireroads around my house. No big jumps, woops, or mud bogging. The bike really works well on dirt roads, and fire road trails through the pine trees. I avoid riding through water and when it is too dry because of dust and poor grip. Oil has been changed regularly with synthetic. The original fork oil has been changed out, (I really don't understand why Honda went to the trouble of making a good cartridge fork for the bike, and then use the same old stinky fish oil, like they did 40 years ago). Changing the fork oil requires removal of the forks, so not an insignificant thing to have done. I have laid it down out at low speed in the pine straw a couple times, and there is some light scuffing on the plastic side plates. Tires are the original Bridgestone Trail Wings. Depending on how important ultimate off road traction is to you, the rear will need replacement in the next 1000 miles. The motorcycle is in perfect running order. Starts easily, idles smooth, cruises nicely, and pulls strong. It has an oversized Clarke gas tank. The smog pump has been removed, and it has a Dynajet carb kit installed. The former owner had a lowering link installed when new, but I have it cranked back up to near original ride height with the preload adjuster.Otherwise the bike is stock. Chain and sprokets are in great shape, and the original battery holds a charge and starts the bike well. Also included is a luggage rack that bolts on over the rear fender.
