1974 OSSA Phantom 250 182103 matching numbers vintage motocrosser. Unrestored very original except for the frame modification for lay down shocks. The original mounts are still there. This would be an excellent vintage racer but would need frame mods removed and finished to be a show bike. This bike was purchased 3 years ago as a project but never completed. I have started it and ridden it briefly. The compression is great and the power is very good. It does need attention in various areas before it would be a functional racer as descibed below. Motor: Very strong with good compression. Clutch needs to be redone as the plates are stuck together and it does not disengage. New clutch plates needed along with a clutch cable. No motor noise. I do not know the piston size or if the rod has been changed. Igniton: Has good spark. original ignition. Pipe: Original pipe and stock silencer. The pipe has many dents and is reinforced with steel bars welded onto it. Functional but not pretty. Rear mount needs replacement. Suspension: Has stock Betor forks with no rust or leaks. Rear shocks are not stock. They are Marazochis with good dampening but may need rebuild for racing. Carb: Stock Bing carb. Air boot in good shape. Needs new air cleaner. Frame: Modification was done to lay down the shocks but the original mounts are intact and the present shocks mounted to them. The mounts and frame mods could be removed to impove the original look. Handlebars look straight and chrome is ok. Needs new grips. Wheels: Front bake works ok. No dings in rims and has original Pirelli in front. Rear wheel and hub in good shape. Brake ok. No rust on spokes. Non-original sprocket. Body and fenders: Original tank and fenders. Front is intact with scratches and stripes peeling. Rear is cracked in two places. Both repairable. Tank is in good shape with some scratches and dings. Worn paint and stripes. Looks good inside. Petcocks look original. Airbox in good shape. Side panels were modified to fit the lay down shock mounts. Seat: The seat was recovered. Not the original shape cover. It has skirts on both sides like a CZ and I just tucked them under the seat because I think it looks better that way. Overall a great place to start for a vintage racer.
