Vehicle Detail
Up for here is a very nice original 1960 El Camino. I have just to many projects sitting that I may never get to. Out of the 4 60's that I have this one is the most original. The body only has one dent on the passenger rear 1/4 panel. I will get a closeup of it along with more pics over the next couple of days. First I will go over the highlights. All the glass is excellent. The complete front end, doors and tailgate show no rust/rot issues. Seams are excellent. The roof is also solid with no holes. The paint is coming up and it has some surface rust only. The interior is all original with even the original am radio. It was changed to a floor shift from a column shift years ago. The floors and rockers are solid inside and out with the exception of the one hole I show in the pics. I wanted to be super clear on the questionable areas so where it looked like rust I machined it down to show it was only surface rust. I am from back East and know what to look for as far as rot goes. I stay away from those cars. The rot free cars are the reason I moved to California over 30 years ago, I now have over a 100 old cars. To many to handle. This truck is an excellent one to start with. The areas that were rotted I wanted to show a clear view so you had no bad surprises. This truck is better that 90% of the unrestored truckas that area still around. The floor behind the seat is solid on the top and bottom. All around all the glass is also solid. The inside of the bed is excellent except the area up by the cab is rotted about 2 inches wide and a few feet across. Under the hood it is also all original. It has a very solid running 283 with the original 3 speed trans. Original shroud and radiator. No rot on the inner fenders or the core support. The brakes lost fluid from sitting but I am going to try and bleed them out. If all goes well I will have it drivable to go on the transport truck. A battery will have to be purchased if that happens. I borrowed the set of new wide whitewall tires and wheels off my other 60 Coupe so It will come with a set of rollers. If you want rallys or want to deal on the wide whites just call me. I will work with any serious buyer. I don't have the keys. It is in need of a few pieces of trim. It will come with a clear California title. I do have this advertised locally and do resere the right to cancel if the car is sold before the auction ends. If it hits its modest reserve I will not close the auction and will let it go till the end. At that point if I have an interested local buyer I will insist he bids like everyone else. Please call me if you need some details or have some special requests. Thanks Dean 760-868-0592 mornings and evenings till 9 Pacific time. Thanks and again please call if you want to know something else about the truck. Thanks for looking Dean 760-868-0592On Mar-16-13 at 10:24:14 PDT, seller added the following information:
