Vehicle Detail
I just won this truck and had it shipped from Montana to New Jersey. My plans were to do a full restoration but a situation has come up and I have to sell it and a few other bikes and projects I own. Clean New Jersey title, winning bid pays for shipping. $500 due within 24 hours of the auction close. Balance due before the vehicle will be released. Paypal acceptedI have added two pictures of what these trucks look like restored in the listing, these are not the actual truck but an idea of how I wanted to restore it. 1961 INTERNATIONAL METRO MILK TRUCK STEP VANThese are very cool milk trucks and have unique art deco styling. Out of all vintage milk vans, the metro's look the coolest in my opinion. This is the a120 model, which is the short wheelbase single rear wheel version. These are becoming very popular with rodders and make great rolling advertisement vehicles, mobile stores, food trucks, or mobile studios They also look cool chopped or lowered. There is plenty of room in the back to stand up and put living quarters, Harley's, cooking equipment, speed parts, or? These metro's are rare to find and this is a solid start for a restoration. DRIVETRAIN The metro has what looks to be the original six cylinder with 4-speed on the floor. I have not tried to get it running. That was the my intention, but just haven't had time. Previous owner said it ran when parked... I would expect it to at least need tune-up work and fluids flushed. I don't know the mechanical condition. The front tires are a lower profile than the rears, which is why it sits with a rake. Tire are just rollers. BODY The body is in very restorable condition. It does have some rust though and the usual dings you'll see in an unrestored 1961 work vehicle. Both rear quarters have rust that you can see in the pictures. It's primarily close to the wheelwell edge and also some on the "rocker" type area down low. I think any sheetmetal company can bend the profile and make pieces to fix this easily. The floor and frame is in nice shape but the first step on the passenger doorway has some rust. This is just flat metal and will be easy to fix. It has rust in the sheetmetal in a couple spots above the front bumper which is normal on these. The rest of the body is solid. All doors open/close. Some dents/dings and the van needs complete restoration. INTERIOR The seat is in decent usable condition. That's about all there is regarding interior. The glass over the gauges is broke but it's just flat glass and easy to replace.
