1972 CB350 Twin - Looks & Runs WellRide or Restore - Low Reserve Price The Story Behind the Vehicle you are bidding On: On a 1972 Honda CB350 twin which is good running condition with 17, 000 miles. This 40 year old motorcycle and is ready to be restored if you want to finish the job I started. One of the great things about this bike is that no one has messed with this bike and it is 99% original. Luckily it has not been a victim of some backyard mechanic or the local teenager with a couple cans of spray paint. About 20 years ago I found this one and was impressed by it's stock condition and is just the way I remember my first Cb350. This summer I decided to get this bike running and relieve some motorcycle history. This motorcycle has spent the last 20 years in the garage and is in really nice shape and is mechanically and cosmetically better than would be expected of a motorcycle built in 1972. Spring is coming so if you are interested in a vintage, small displacement motorcycle read on, this bike is ready to ride! Recent mechanical work:- Project was started by removing the carbs and to my surprise they were both in pretty nice shape. I'm a professional factory Honda certified mechanic so I disassembled both carbs and made sure all jets and circuits were clean and set them back to specs. To finish the fuel system I lubed the cables, installed inline filters and took the petcock apart and cleaned it to get it to work properly. I installed a new battery, new plugs and changed the oil. The ignition points looked new so I cleaned up the points and adjusted the valves to be on the safe side! The engine came to life easily, sounded good and a test ride confirmed it runs well with no hesitation and the transmission works properly. Way to go Honda - a well engineered single overhead cam motor! The inside of the tank looks good and shows no rust but the lower left side seams looks like it could be a problem in the future but it doesn't leak. I believe the tank should be sealed with a product like Kreem to avoid problems in the future. Tires are old but lots of thread. Both front and rear brakes are working and have all the stopping power of drum brakes had in the old days!. The rear chain is like new and has been lubed and adjusted. All the lights and horn are working. Cosmetic condition: Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and I would say this motorcycle is a solid 8 out of 10. The bike looks good but is not cosmetically perfect please take a close look at the pictures. Some spots on the motorcycle under close examination shows there age and some weathering. The original factory seat looks great but has a small rip which can only be seen when the seat is opened up to get to the battery. The exhaust system is solid with no leaks or holes in the mufflers. Head pipes have some gold and bluing which is normal for vintage motorcycles and the exhaust holders have some rust which can be cleaned up.. The engine cases are not damaged and look good. The paint on the right case was blistered so I removed the paint and did a quick polish on the aluminum case. The gas / fuel tank looks good but the left side black paint is not perfect. The gold sealing at the bottom shows it's age. The frame paint is good in most places but has places which have rust and could easily restored. The side covers are original and look good and are not damaged or cracked but the paint on the right side has been worn down from someone's pants. The bike looks like it has fallen over in the drive way or some low speed mishap. The Frame and forks are straight but the triple tree cowlings have been straightened and show paint damage and the right brake lever shows minor damage. Sorry there is no tool kit or owners manual with this motorcycle. This is a private sale. In New York State a 1972 motorcycle did not have a title but a transferable registration which unfortunately I have lost. Owner will receive a bill of sale and I will apply for a replacement registration if that is important to you. It usually take 60 days for NY State to replace a lost registration! The vehicle is now in a storage facility and is not available for pre purchase inspection. If you have any questions please contact Ken by email or phone.
