Vehicle Detail

This a rare find! 1959 Bonneville w/59,000 actual documented miles. This car was in storage from 1972 until 2002. I am the third owner and have copies of the titles of the first two owners. It had 52,000 when the second owner bought it and 56,000 when I bought it in 2011 The car was sold new in Ft. Morgan, Colorado to an elderly couple who had the car put away in their heated garage in 1972 and wouldn't let their children to sell it as long as they were alive. The second owner from Wisconsin found out about the car from a friend who knew the family. He was able to buy the car in 1994 and kept it in storage in his heated shop until 2002. He was a Pontiac mechanic in his younger days and restored the car to it's original beauty, or you might say refreshened the car as it needed no body work and very little interior work. He did rebuild it mechanically from one end to another as expected for a car being in storage for as long as this one was. When asked if it needed any body work, he said all that was done to the body was sand and repaint. No rust, no dents. I have looked the car over very closely several times and found no rust or filler. The chrome and stainless steel are very good condition, and original, no rechroming and no work done to the stainless. The only serious flaw in the stainless is on the front grille stainless bezel that surrounds the grille. They had attached a bug screen over the front of the car and the springs holding it in place scratched the top stainless. You can see one side in the pictures, both sides look the same. The seats were recovered to original tri-colored pattern, even the stars were inserted as original. The carpets were replaced with original speckle pattern as original was. The rest of the interior is original. Yes the dashpad and the back package tray are original, as are the doorpanels, armrests, and everything else in the interior. The headliner has stars in it. The clock was removed and redone with a quartz movement. The radio was removed and restored. The windshield has been replaced, otherwise I believe the glass is original. There is a vertical crack in the passenger window along the front, I never replaced it as was trying to keep the car original. Having said that , yes I put the wheels on it, the wheels and wheelcovers that were on the car when I bought were not the originals, and I didn't like them. We have the original wheels and wheel covers for the car. Wheels are painted as you can see in the pictures. Sorry , I know this is description getting long , but want you to know everything about this car. Everything mechanically has been rebuilt, and I mean everything. The most important thing is the engine. It is not your ordinary 389. The gentlman that restored the car was a Pontiac mechanic when he was younger. He said when they ebuilt the engine they dicovered that it was a 420A, 330 hp engine, same engine as used in Nascar, only engine bigger was the tri-power 345hp 389 also used in Nascar. I have hunted the engine and the internet endlessly and not found a way to tell unless the engine is dismantled and checked for 4 bolt mains, which he says it has. As near as I can tell, the 389's made later in the year had a marking , but he early ones didn't, only a tag that apparently has gotten lost over the yrs. I visited with the gentleman for a couple of hrs. the day we bought the car and found no reason not to believe him. He also stated that is was rebuilt by a machine shop and they told him it was an 420A, 330 hp engine. He requested that they make it so it could burn todays gas, and still have 330 hp. He said they did some headwork, and recamed it and it had 330 hp on the dino when before it was reinstalled in the car. This engine handles the car very well. Very strong response in passing situations without downshifting. Transmission shifts smoothly, and downshifts perfectly. The linkage is set very well. Sorry I just realized that I don't have any pictures of the trunk, or the underside of the car. I can take some of the trunk, but it is in our storage facility and blocked in at the present time so underside shots are not available at this time, but can be taken when it come out of storage. It can be left in storage for no charge until spring if desired. I'm selling this car with a 100% gaurentee, in other words, if it isn't in the condition I say it is and your'e not happy, you don't own it so please don't worry about the underside, will show it to you before it leaves here. It has POR-15 sprayed on it, but this was not a frame off resto, so underside is not spotless We have three other cars and really don't need to have a fourth. We have put 3000 miles on this car, one being a 1000 mi. tripp in 2011. It did everything expected of it. Drives perfect, very quiet, no wind whistles around the doors or windows. The major change made during restoration, which car be changed back is the color of the car. Was originally a pale rasberry color, and now is blue. I have pictures of the car with original paint when it was in storage in Colorado, and all the documentation to prove all the statments I made about this car and it's history. One picture shows the reflection of the ceiling in our storage facility in the trunk lid. Paint is basecoat, clearcoat. The car has powersteering and powerbrakes, if you don't like or want the custom wheels, let me know and maybe we can work something out. Paypal is ok for downpayment in 48 hrs. Balance due in one week unless other arrangements are made. Questions? Please call 605-770-9263, bid with confidence. Thanks.
