Vehicle Detail

I'm again putting up my old Mustang for sale, as reluctant as I am to do so, I have bills to pay. Whoever ends up with her will be happy. As with many older cars, the history can be a bit fuzzy. This one's no exception. When I bought it in 2001 from a older fella in Florida he didn't have a lot to tell me. Back then, the odometer had about 40k miles on it, and the trim tag said that it originally was a 2 barrel, 289 car. The drum brakes and the wonky air conditioning went away, and the entire car has been gone through with the exception of the bodywork. All the details are below, along with the photos. Take a look and throw in a bid. Let me know if you have any questions. The car is currently located in Oakland, CA. It has a clean and current Florida registration and title and is fully insured. Engine 1993 5.0 bored .030 over 12,000 miles since rebuild Stock crank, magnafluxed, shotpeened, knife-edged ARP Main studs Forged Speed-Pro pistons Forged rods with ARP bolts, stretched to .007 Balanced AFR 165cc Aluminum heads Ford Motorsports E303 cam, with roller lifters too Ford Motorsports 1.6 ratio Aluminum roller lifters Crane Cams pushrods Mallory Unilite optically trigger distributor MSD Coil Hooker Competition headers Aluminum high flow water pump Cloyes timing chain Edelbrock Performer RPM air-gap intake manifold New Holley 600 4bbl carb (1850) Aluminum valve covers Chrome 1-wire 60 amp alternator. Recent compression test was 205psi +/- 5psi Flowmaster dual exhaust 3 row radiator Transmission Rebuilt (about 16,000 miles ago) Borg Warner T-5 Hurst Shifter (rebuilt 5,000 miles ago) with custom shifter handle (necessary because of T-5's shifter design/ location) Ford Motorsports Heavy Duty 10.5" clutch/pressure plate (16k miles on it) Stock mechanical clutch linkage, but upgraded with heim joints throughout and a sealed spherical thrust bearing for the clutch release fork. Aluminum T-5 Bellhousing Shortened/Balanced Driveshaft Rear End 3.55 open diff with newish axle seals and bearings (20k miles since rebuild) Brakes Ford Granada front disk brakes, 12.5", cheap/easy to find parts, uses Granada spindles Ford Explorer rear disc brakes, again, cheap/easy to find pads/rotors Manual brakes with Cobra Automotive Aluminum dual reservoir master cylinder and manual proportioning valve. Suspension Front: 620lb/in springs, 1.5 coils removed Total Control Products (TCP) tubular upper control arms Shelby control arm relocation performed Rear: Mid-eye leaf springs Polyurethane spring and shackle bushings Recently replaced shackles Tires: 235/45R17 s on the back, 215/45R17 on the front, Steering Total Control Products manual rack and pinion Modified with larger bushing on passenger side to compensate for steering slop. 16:1 ratio Interior Corbeau front bucket seats. Black vinyl. Dakota Digital Gauges DIN sized stereo with 6x9 speakers in rear, 6.5” kick panel speakers in front. New heater core Newer dash pad, carpet, headlinerNewer window regulators Newer door panels Wiring harness has been completely inspected and repaired as necessary Newer front and rear glass gaskets (properly sealed with butyl and replaced concurrently with headliner Good things Though certainly not a show car, it looks good and drives well.Extremely reliable: driven cross-country without a hiccup last year. More power than I can use.Never overheats, even in traffic. Never raced or abused. I've gotten consistently high 20s in mpg at 70mph, even with a carb. Could probably increase that to solid 30 with a fuel injection/front spoiler. Handles well. Stops well, even with manual brakes. Manual steering is easy to live due to rack and pinion. Low maintenance hydraulic lifters. Exclusive use of synthetic oil in engine after break-in (inspection of cylinders and upper valve train show virtually no wear) Sounds great Turns heads and always plenty of thumbs up. iPod jack for the stereo. No tire rub: the fender lips have been rolled with one of the Eastwood fender rollers. Bad things A small rust spot on the front of the passenger door and bubbles indicating a similar problem on the driver’s side. Otherwise rust free. Weird hood scoop. The clearcoat on the hood is failing and it’s growing white, molding looking patches. It doesn’t seem to affect the adherence of the paint, it’s only cosmetic. Heater motor's on the fritz. Display on the stereo is very dim. Once you get used to the buttons, you don’t even notice. I never had the back seat reupholstered to match the front buckets. Miscellaneous cosmetic annoyances that accompany a 46 year old car.The trunk looks like crap. The dome light is missing the lens.Could use an fresh alignment- it's been a few years.
