Vehicle Detail

I have for sale, my 1955 Ford Customline - I am not the original owner, but from what I can tell everything is original mechanically speaking. I bought it at an auction a couple of months ago. It's not my daily driver, but it runs great and should be considered as such. Clear title in my name. 1955 Ford Customline - V-8, manual transmission. Sea sprite green, manufactured in Atlanta, GA.Exterior:The car looks great, however I believe it has been re-painted the original sea sprite green color. It has a few minor paint chips on the body, but only visible when standing right over them. The chrome is in great shape (all original) with very little scratching. It does not have the "Customline" chrome writing on the car. No dents on the car. No cracks in the windshields, only minor air bubbles near the seams. Original wheels, brand new tires. One of the back windows has trouble rolling up and down. The front windows work great, although the driver's handle is broken.Interior:It looks good for the most part. The headliner will need to be replaced - it sags, but is only noticeable if you already know it's sagging. The front driver's seat has two very small tears - passenger side is perfect. The back seat looks like no one ever sat in it, as it is in perfect shape. The dash has no cracking or dis-coloration. All original dashboard, but some things need to be re-wired as clock & radio do not work. Dash lights work, odometer works (reads 98,xxx), and some of the other gauges work. Floor-mats are all original. It has been garaged kept, but if left outside, water leaks onto floorboards somehow. Haven't figured out where it is coming in from. BUT, it's been kept inside so there are no issues with water.Engine & Transmission:8 cyl. 272 cid/162hp 2bbl - Manual transmission "three on the tree" - I am currently replacing the pinion oil seal near the rear differential to fix a leak. There is another small leak in the front, but I'm getting the one in the back fixed because replacing the rear diff in these cars is way too costly. The interesting thing about the '55 (as well as some other years) is the gear box does not allow you to down shift to first gear! You have to be completely stopped to enter back to 1st. Pretty crazy how they made cars back then! All gears work great (reverse, 1-3). This car does not have power steering and has the original drum brakes. What you give up in maneuverability, you gain in the classic nature of the car. I recently had a local Ford service manager take a look at the whole car for me. He said when I called him he was worried that the car would be rusted out and in terrible shape. He said he was shocked at how well the car looked - under the hood, underneath the car, and visually. He said the breaks were in good shape, as well as the shocks. Frame has very little to no eroding rust and he said the frame (based on his assessment) had never been wrecked and was in great shape. I'm also trying to sell this locally, so this auction may end at any time because of this. If you would like to buy it, I will accept cash, paypal, and/or certified credit transfer.
