Up for bids I have this 1983 Volkswagen Rabbit Pickup. I bought the truck just like it sits with intentions of fixing it up but have since found another one that I am making my project vehicle and am offering this one up for sale. This would make a great project truck and with a little bit of work could be back on the road. These MK1 Caddys are getting harder and harder to find, especially without rust. Per the previous owner, this truck has been sitting since 2006. The truck is a 1.7L gas engine with 5 speed manual transmission. 114k miles showing is supposed to be original miles. Rare dark green/light green color combo. The truck does not run at the current time. It will start and run if you spray starter fluid into the intake and the motor sounds good with no knocks but it will not stay running. The fuel system is going to need work due to sitting for a long period of time. The compression on all 4 cylinders was checked and all of them are good. The brake system will also need attention as the pedal does all the way to the floor, probably a bad line from sitting. The body of the truck is in good shape for being 30 years old. Other than the very very minor rust spot around the passenger side of the windshield (pictured) this truck is rust free which is hard to find on a MK1. The strut towers are completely solid. There is a minor ding on the passenger rear fender well and very minor scrape on the passenger door (both pictured and both minor but worth mentioning). The front grille is cracked and so is the passenger corner light but these can be replaced very cheap and easily. 5 factory steel wheels and tires included with good tread but are dry rotted due to sitting. The front bumper was removed by the previous owner but is included with no damage not installed. There are buttons along the side of the bed from a camper top but could easily be removed. The interior is in good shape but needs a good cleanup. The dash has no cracks which is rare in MK1 VW's these days. The A pillar trim is missing. Radio has been removed. The heater controls will need some work but are included. The headliner is included with truck but is not installed. The truck has a pop up sunroof that was sealed shut with silicon by the previous owner. Original owners manual, warranty booklet and service booklet included with some maintenance receipts. If the buyer uses the buy it now option I will include an aluminum camper shell along with a set of VW P-slot wheels with nearly new tires. The wheels are in good shape but would need to be refinished to look real good. If the buyer does not use buy it now, I will offer these items for sale separately if interested.
