No Reserve - If there is a performance mod on the car you would like to add or change that can always be negotiated.Videos Walk around http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=76pjIXaS2k4&feature=g-hist Dyno http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6o5nx19eXs You are bidding on an absolutely gorgeous 1990 Ford Mustang LX Hatchback. This is a just completed restomod project. It has ZERO miles since completion. This car is garaged and covered, will not be driven and will remain so until driven by its new owner. The goal of this car was to build a gorgeous all-around performance fox body that can hang with the latest 5.0 and Camaro SS from a stoplight while having daily driver manners and comforts. This car was built to be a street car. What does that mean exactly? Because folks have different interpretations of what a street car is, let me clarify. This is not the normal Mustang you see that is a max horsepower effort with a big cam that will have low RPM bucking issues, no torque off idle, missing or inop Air Conditioning, overheating issues, no sway bar, inop power locks, poor cornering/braking etc. This was built to be an all-around car with every facet improved, a motor with a healthy idle and exhaust note, a massive torque band, the ability to sit and idle in 100 degree weather without overheating all while keeping its passengers cool and comfortable with the choice of either listening to the music of the exhaust note or a high end quality stereo system. (not a bass monster or thumpy stereo) This build started with a low mile, accident and rust free original 5.0 V8 five speed Mustang. This car was driven off the enclosed delivery trailer and completely gutted and stripped to send to paint. The drivetrain, wiring, all interior, fenders, ¼ windows, door handles, mirrors, trim, locks, hatchback, hood etc were all removed for painting as the car was being changed from the original blue to a midnight black. Upon disassembly it was amazing how clean the bones of the car were. Indicative of spending most of its life in dry Arizona there was no rust that needed to be treated or panels that needed to be replaced. DSR customs of New Orleans did the paint and body work and you can see the quality in the pictures. All jams, the underside of the hood and hatch, the engine bay framing and engine bay into the tunnel were not just painted but cleared as well. The car originally had black interior which was in great condition and looked good with the original blue paint but was removed and replaced with a titanium and black interior for a better contrast with the paint. I think you’ll agree this is a really sharp combination. This entire interior was gone through out of the car. Anything that needed to be was replaced, cleaned or redyed. A new headliner was installed, the carpet was shampooed. The door panels had those saggy door pockets removed and were lined with a new better than stock jute backing for sound deadening. New door locks were installed, ¼ windows were refinished and all trim was replaced or repainted. This car has a custom, one of a kind rear seat delete. This rear seat delete was designed to look stock and elegant while not adding any weight and housing high end stereo components without looking tacky or obtrusive. A custom stereo system was designed to fit in place of the rear seat and provide a flat surface to extend the hatchback into one large hatch area. You could definitely get some groceries or 3 sets of golf clubs in there. To save weight the woofer enclosures were made out of fiberglass and the amp stands were fiberglass and pine. The entire unit is anchored to the car by the original seat belt anchors so it will not move around. A custom hatch carpet was then cut from some really nice plush 9400 carpet that was bound and placed over ½’ jute backing for sound deadening. Looking at the car you wouldn’t even realize two subs, two amps and a crossover were in the car. The stereo consists of a pair of Infinity Reference 8" subs in the rear and MB Quart components in the front. The components are driven by an old school ADS 4 channel amp and a Soundstream Reference amp drives the subs. If you know stereos, you know this is nice stuff. This stereo was put together for accurate audiophile sound, not so folks can hear bass from 3 miles away. Everything is controlled by an Alpine head unit with an LCD display designed for Ipod/Iphone interface. It has a remote control and Alpine has a Parrot Hands free add-on to stream music via Bluetooth and for hands-free for your phone if you want to add it. All wiring throughout the car was gone through and all electrical work was done correctly with connections soldered and heat shrinked. More custom work was done with the engine wiring harness routed through the fender wells and extended for a much cleaner look than the stock snakes nest. A custom electric fan setup was wired in the right way. A Bosch Hi Flow fan was wired with Dual relays to handle the startup amp load. A thermostatically activated switch activates the fan at 185 degrees so you don’t have to worry about switching it on. However, a hidden cockpit switch is wired in as well for those instances you might want to manually control the fan. This switch is wired for key on operation so no worries about running down the battery. Two LED lights are installed beneath the stereo and are wired into each relay so you can see when the fan is on. This will also indicate if one of the relays goes out. One of my favorite upgrades is the conversion of both the instrument cluster and the AC gauges to LED lighting. Let me tell you, it is awesome! This makes the car soooo much nicer at night. (not that I've driven it, just sat in it with the lights off) It's like a new gauge cluster and the needles really pop. While the dash was out, the plastic cover on the instrument cluster was removed and polished. That took it from hazy to crystal clear. Now for what you really care about. The engine. A 1968 302 (C80E) block was bored .060 over and zero decked with SRP flat top Forged piston, Eagle I beam forged rods, Forged crank 28oz balance, Clevite 77 main and rod bearings. The rotating assembly was balanced with the actual flywheel and damper. This is a very smooth balanced engine. Compression is 10.8:1 with 60cc heads and runs on premium fuel. A mild cam that was oriented towards a good idle with enough lope to sound mean, good power and monstrous torque for those stop light to stop light sprints was installed. Once the engine and drivetrain was installed the engine was primed with an electric drill and the engine was started and warmed up for five minutes. The engine was drained of the new oil and another new filter was installed and new oil added. The engine was then broken in with conventional oil and all systems checked out. After an hour running at various RPM under 2500 while on jacks the car had zero leaks and the cooling system worked like a champ. After this break-in process the oil was then drained and full synthetic oil and a new filter was put in. So there is no question as to what you are buying, the car was taken to the dyno. Fuel pressure and timing were dialed in for a conservative street tune. By the third pull fuel pressure was dialed in so the target 13.0:1 AFR was hit at peak torque and then reduced to an ideal 12.6:1 at higher RPM. The dyno graph is attached. The car put down 370 rear wheel horsepower and 395 ft-lbs of torque. These are very good numbers for a small cam. Having at least 350rwtq from 2800-5500rpm makes for great fun on the street. If you aren’t familiar with rear wheel numbers and how that relates to new cars, let me explain. New cars have horsepower rated at the flywheel. The accepted conversion for a 5 speed is to account for 15% in driveline loss. This would put this car at a factory rating of 425 HP/ 454 ft-lbs torque. The 2013 Mustang 5.0 is rated at 420hp/390tq and the Camaro SS at 400hp/410tq. This car is lighter as well. If you would like to compare this to a crate motor, crate motors are tested on an engine dyno without any accessories (AC, power steering, water pump, smog pump, alternator) and without a full exhaust. Muscle Mustangs and Fast Fords did a dyno test where they took off the serpentine belt and saw a gain of 8rwhp and 25 lb-ft of torque. No exhaust is worth another 15-20 HP. So it would be accurate to say this engine on an engine dyno would compare to a crate motor at 450HP/480lb-ft torque. On the 3.5 mile drive from the dyno, street manners were checked. The car was put in 5th gear at idle at around 30mph and she just chugged along with no bucking. Idle was rock solid. A Crankcase evac system was added to relieve the excessive pressure normally seen in stroker and hi compression motors. This is essential as not having one will result in oil being sucked through the PCV valve and into the intake coating the valves with oil and reducing engine life. This car was built to drive every day in the hottest weather without the car or driver overheating. The AC system has all new o-rings and seals, was converted to R134. The AC system was completely checked. A vacuum was pulled and the system held it for 3 days no problem, so no leaks to worry about. AC system pressures were all within specs. Here’s a list of parts on the car. Many are new and the rest have very low miles on them (approx. 450 – 2000miles depending). Mileage put on parts that mileage would matter on: Engine New Shortblock - 1968 302 (C80E) block that was bored .060 over with 347. with flywheel and damper, and zero decked with SRP flat top Forged piston ; Eagle I beam forged rods, Forged crank 28oz balance. That doesn’t include the hundreds of hours of labor to install anything, tune, bodywork, paint work, custom wiring etc. With some of my description about driveability, don’t get the idea this is a Lexus or Toyota. This is a muscle car, with muscle car appeal. It hasn’t been driven to find out, but don’t expect 35 mpg. Mileage will vary greatly with how much your foot goes to the floor, but expect in the range of 17-21 highway. Like most of this body style, smog equipment has been removed to clean up the engine compartment and the car has no cats. (though easily added) I have all smog equipment if you want it. People will notice when this car is started and drives by with that distinct Flow Master sound. This car will get attention. While this car has been completely sorted through, it is still a 90 Mustang with 1990 design. It does have an Auburn locker so you can lay twin stripes so the rear end is slightly louder than stock. A custom tune is not required but would most likely give slightly more power and even better manners in all conditions. While it is newly painted and gorgeous, it is not perfect. No joyrides. You will not drive this car without money in hand and a commitment to buy. Whoever does buy this car will be assured that this new combo has not been ragged on by anyone as it will not be driven. The car is titled in Texas and not registered. If you don’t have financing or cash already in place, do not bid. If you have zero feedback I will cancel your bid unless you contact me. I would encourage any potential buyer to come check the car out as pictures are much smaller than the car itself and it’s always good to see in person. Speaking of pictures, the driver’s seat appears to be noticeably stained in the picture. This is hardly noticeable in person but stands out in the picture. It doesn’t matter as I will have the seats cleaned. This is an old car and a performance car and as such there is no warranty. Shipping is the responsibility of the buyer to arrange and pay for but I will assist the driver in loading.
