Vehicle Detail
Normal 0 false false false EN-US JA X-NONE In short, the 1984 BMW 318i is a class act. These cars are known to sail past 200,000 miles due to a reputable drivetrain known for its strength and reliability. I bough this one in May of 2011 and I used it as a daily driver. The car always started up and it always got me where I needed to go. A very nice E30. I like cars and essentially this is a car for people who like cars. This car is essential piece of BMW history and it deserves the maintenance of a good honest mechanic. I am proud of the work I have done to this car. I am the third owner. I am selling because I have three other project cars right now. The first owner bought the car in San Diego, CA. The second owned lived in Phoenix Arizona. I have operated the vehicle in Oklahoma and Arkansas. When I purchased the car it was completely original. Here are the maintenance items I have performed on the car. Oil changes every 3,000 miles or 4 months using mobile1. Synthetic Wax twice a year. *NO RUST* August 2011 Symbol">· New water pump, New thermostat, New upper and lower radiator hoses · Coolant flushed and replaced · New valve cover gasket · New spark plugs, ignition coil, spark plug wires, rotor, and distributor cap · New Vinyl front sport seats from a 1988 BMW 318is. · Valves adjusted · New 49 state catalytic converter May 2012 · All new Continental belts · New OEM ATE brake master cylinder · Brake fluid replaced and entire system bled · *New crankshaft oil seal. · Power steering pump replaced with an excellent ZF Pump from a 1987 318i · Power steering fluid replaced and system bled · Manual Transmission fluid replaced with Redline MTF · Differential fluid replaced with recommended Redline fluid. *Many other maintenance items that I probably forgot about. THE CAR LOOKS AND RUNS GREAT, ESPECIALLY FOR A CAR THAT IS JUST SHY OF BEING 30 YEARS OLD. I HAVE POSTED A VIDEO OF THE CAR ON YOUTUBE. HERE IS THE LINK. As a mechanic the things that I like about this car 1. It’s a 1984 BMW 318i in great shape and I challenge anyone to find a similar car in the same condition. 2. It never stops running 3. The trunk looks like it never held a bag of groceries 4. The car is simply awesome. 5. The m10 engine makes me smile whenever I start it up. 6. The original radio still works 7. The antennae still retracts when I turn off the radio 8. The power mirrors work! 9. It handles better with the original suspension then my 2007 accord. 10. The bottle cap wheels look great. 11. The car has 113,000 miles on it 12. It is a 5 speed. As a mechanic, the things that bother me about the car….. 1. The windshield has a chip and a 20 inch crack on the bottom of the passenger side, doesn’t really bother me so I haven’t replaced it. 2. The AC works but is marginal in VERY hot temps and I believe that the compressor is the cause of this. 3. The moon roof crank is missing the plastic handle, but I have a used handle from a 85 318i waiting to go in. 4. The muffler will need to be replaced. 5. The idle is somewhat odd during the first 15-20 seconds at start then is normal 6. Some minor marks on the body 7. Minor clunking at low speeds from the CV axles. 8. I wish the windshield washer fluid had more pressure on activation of the pump but it gets the job done. 9. I wish the back seat was new 10. The “inspection” light goes on and off whenever it wants. One of the fog lights is inop. I have the title in hand and I will accept payment through pay pal. 500 dollar deposit and full payment within 3 days of auction close. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions. Good luck.
