Vehicle Detail

This is an extremely rare and very nice Heinkel 150 Kabine. Made in Germany in 1956 and sold new in Holland where it has lived most of its life until very recently. Ernst Heinkel saw the Iso Isetta (Before BMW was making their licensed version) and thought he could design something similar but better and he did just that. I love Isetta's too but from an engineering standpoint the Heinkel is an improvement being lighter and similarly capable with a smaller engine. This car is in very good restored condition. The body and paint is excellent with just a few minor scratches and a small dent on the front right wheel arch (see close up picture). There are a few slight cracks in the paint mostly on the high stress areas like where the door hinges meet the body. Underneath the car looks extremely good and solid. The chrome is very nice and presentable with some age and pitting showing. The interior is also in very nice condition. The grey carpet around the sides is not original but nicely done. The Original floor mat has a few splits but is complete. The dash is nice. The speedometer works great. The clock does not work (this is not electric, you have to wind it up). It probably needs to be taken apart and cleaned and lubricated. The windscreen is perfect. The back and two large side windows are plastic (as is original) and look to be very new. One of the front wing windows is plastic (should be glass) and is missing its latch. The two smaller rear windows are glass and are perfect. It has a fabric sunroof that appears to be original, it has one sewn up repair and is a bit worn but is weatherproof and working. It runs and drives great. The engine is a Heinkel 174cc 1 cylinder 4 stroke, Although this is slightly smaller than the later Heinkels engine (198cc) this model is said to be the most reliable and with the same top speed (about 53mph) The wipers lights and horn all work (12v). The gearbox is four speed plus reverse and works great. The clutch and brakes work perfect. The steering is nice and tight and the car tracks very well. The Michelin tires (4.4x10) are old and showing a bit of sidewall cracking but work great and have plenty of tread left. The heat and defrost does work. The Interior is quite roomy for such a small car and there is even room for kids (and alligators (see video below)) behind the seats. This car was sold new in Holland and still wears the small dealer badge below the windscreen. It was recently legally brought to America and comes with all of its original dutch paperwork plus the EPA and other US forms needed to get it licensed but it has not yet been licensed in the USA. Buyer is responsible for shipping costs and arrangements. I highly recommend and encourage a personal inspection if possible. The Heinkel can be viewed by appointment in Granite Falls WA (near Seattle) I reserve the right to end the auction at any time. Car must be picked up within 30 days. Feel free to ask any questions.
