Vehicle Detail

1973 Mercedes 450sl Reserve set low. PRICED TO SELL. We are moving! Car has had 2 owners that I am aware of. The original owner sold it to my wife's grandfather who garage kept it until we started driving it some about 3 years ago--at that point it was kept under a WeatherShield car cover. The car drove well except for one issue--it has a front seal leak in the transmission. This caused the fluid to get low and then I noticed some slipping between gears. Filled up with fluid and it ran fine (but still leaked). I recently started the car with no problems.Exterior: Paint is in good condition considering the age of the vehicle--very shiny. It looks like it may have been repainted at some point. It has a few dings on the driver's side door and some cracks in the paint on the hard top. It also has a paint chip on the hood that you can see in the pictures. Other than those issues the exterior really looks nice. The soft top is stiff because it hasn't been used to my knowlege--it will need to be replaced. I've noticed a bit of rust under the spare tire in the trunk, but no other rust that I am aware of. Tires are old--have tread left but are probably starting to dry rot.Interior: As you can tell from the pictures, the seats need to be recovered. The dash and door panels look good. Steering wheel in good shape. The radio is the original German radio--it turns on but only hear fuzz. Maybe antenna isn't hooked up? Mechanical: The main concern I have regarding this vehicle is it has a front seal leak in the transmission. Transmission will slowly leak fluid if not repaired. The brakes squeek quite a bit.Other: No battery included. I really feel the reserve is fair for the condition of this vehicle. I have gotten a couple of quotes for fixing the transmission leak that range from $300-500.Title is in hand and clear. The title lists this car as a 1973 model but I have been told that it might actually be a 1974.Please email me with any questions. Thanks. On Jan-28-13 at 17:33:36 PST, seller added the following information: Correction--there is NO rust under the spare tire in the trunk. The rust is in the trunk to the left of the spare tire lid as you can see in the picture. It's surface rust--no holes.
