Vehicle Detail

This 1978 Eldorado Biarritz was purchased in Detroit at a cost of $15,338. It had every option except the t-tops and CB radio. Upon delivery the car was rust-proofed and driven only on Sunday's by a first generation Italian gentleman. When this gentleman passed away, he willed to his brother who already had a primary mode of transportation, thus the car was stored and driven periodically. I purchased the car from the son-in-law and after doing a complete brake job (calipers, pads, flex lines, rotors and fluid flush) along with a tune-up (wires, cap, condenser, set timing and idle & valve cover gaskets) I have put over 2,500 care-free miles on the vehicle. It was always stored inside. My children love it and everyone can't believe the wonderful ride. When people say they float down the road...they actually mean it. The younger generation constantly give the thumbs-up when they see it. Interior: The interior leather is like new. The power seats adjust various ways and there is leg room galore if you are large. Tilt and telescopic steering wheel is another cool feature. There is however one 1/2" tear in the rear seat which could easily be repaired. Visually the small tear is hard to notice. The landau roof is in excellent condition and this includes the typical trouble spots below the rear window where the top meets the trunk area. The trunk carpet is in fine condition. Drive-train: The engine bay is very clean and I have not even begun to detail it. The engine oil has been changed twice since I have owned it and the chassis fittings greased. The exhaust has no leaks and the muffler, main pipe and tail pipe look fairly new. Front end is tight and it tracks down the road effortlessly. The transmission shifts perfectly and there are no unexpected noises. There is no cloud of smoke coming out the tail pipe when you step on the gas pedal. Body: The paint is in decent condition. At some point in the cars life the front end was painted. I question the son-in-law about this and there was no history of any accidents. The car is a 10-footer, meaning it has some flaws but does not mean you have to paint the car right away. It is presentable enough for taking to the local cruise night as I have many times. From the windshield back the paint is original. The quarter panel had some light surface rust on them and the 2nd owner (an older gentleman) used a spray can on them. I resprayed them with matching paint and they came out pretty nice. The 2nd owner use to park the car under a chestnut tree which caused some very subtle dents on the hood and roof. I know it was not hail damage as the trunk has no dents. These minor imperfections can only be seen when looking at the hood at a certain angle. I figured one day I would paint the whole car and deal with it then as the rest of the car has very good bones. There is only one spec of rust that I can find on this car which is on the passenger side behind the front wheel. The spot is covered by chrome trim, but should be preventative touched up. The chrome is in excellent condition. You can tell by the amount of old wax the car was cared for. The plastic pieces (that commonly crack) are in incredible condition. Documentation: I have the original dealership sales order, window sticker, glove box manual and other original paperwork and receipts for work that was performed. General Condition: I would not hesitate driving this car across country. You can steer this car with one pinky as the power steering works so well. My plans were to clean it up and drive it and eventually paint the whole car but another vehicle (1960 pickup truck) has fallen into my lap and my wife says the Eldorado has to go. I am being honest as I can with this ad. I also installed a new battery that have 720 cold cranking amps. Important: I thought long and hard about posting this car on e-Bay for two (2) reasons. First I a really don't want to sell it and second, there are a lot of fake bidders on this site. Please respect other folks and only bid if you are serious. Please message me with your questions and I can also send you a link to more pictures of the car.
