Vehicle Detail

Up for sale a nice 1964 1/2 Ford Mustang Coupe, Poppy Red, D Code 289 4V, 4 Speed, PS, PB, Standard Black Interior w/ Center Console. Highly desirable Rare early production Dearborn plant Mustang. Considering the large number of Mustangs produced in the 60's these early Mustangs in this configuration are rare and a great investment. Here are some things listed that you will only find in the early days (1964 1/2). This car has all these unique features. Original Road Draft tube on the original 4V intake. Horn's mounted low on either side of the radiator. Original generator. Has the vents for the battery on the radiator support. Early style hood edges Has the letter A on the fresh air vent knob. Slotted spare tire mount. This car was one family owned until 2011 Decoded Door Tag Information: Warranty Number: 5F07D193204 Year: 5 1965 (1964 1/2) Plant: F Dearborn, MI Body Series: 07 2 Door Hardtop Engine: D 289 4v V8 Unit: 193204 193204 Miscellaneous Vehicle Data Body: 65A 2 Door Hardtop, Standard Interior Color: 3 Poppy Red Trim: 86 Black Crinkle Vinyl, Standard Interior Date: 09G July 09, 1964 D.S.O: 24 Jacksonville Axle: 1 3.00:1, Conventional Trans: 5 4-Speed Manual This car is a Great Car with mostly original parts. The carburetor is a brand new Edelbrock 600 CFM electric choke model and runs smooth. I do not have the original carb. The wheels have been replaced with 14" Cragar and brand new tires. The car also has non original dual exhaust system. Other new items include. New heater core and hoses New radiator New shift Boot and Bezel New instrument Bezel New defrost Plenum replacing the original paper one New defrost vent tubes New rear bumper and valance pan New kick panels New door panels New Bullet Mirror New Edelbrock 600 CFM Carb There is a new factory reproduction radio block off plate installed as the original radio was replaced with a modern one and 2 extra holes were drilled in the panel. I love the radio delete look. The car is mechanically sound in every way. Great driver and very fast. Rearend hooks up nice. Engine very strong and trans shifts great. Chirps the tires in first and second gear. Shocks are good and car goes straight down the road. Power drum brakes stop fine. The car has a nice exhaust note with just the right rumble. The car idles well and revs nicely. No oil or fluid leaks. The interior is excellent. Clean and tidy, much better than most. Carpets clean and nice. Seats are excellent front and back. Headliner in good shape no tears. Dash pad has a few waves in it but not bad. All glass good. Original steering wheel is nice, horn not working. All heat and defrost new and works great. New door panels and kick panels. Factory center console removed from car but included. The seat belts were also removed and not included. This car is an older restoration done by the son of the original owner from far southern Illinois. The underside of the car is pretty clean and rust free except the typical rust area on the left and right floors in the front corners. This will be an easy patch/fix. The rear quarter's are full of body filler around the wheel openings and lower area's. Wheel houses and trunk extension look fine. I would do a partial replacement of both qaurters. All other area's of body and framer rails/torque boxes excellent. Trunk floor solid. The paint is nice and resprayed original Poppy Red about a few years ago. I would repaint the car when time to replace the rear quarters. Who ever painted the car did a better job than the rear quarter panel body work. The paint is very good other than some cracking around the passenger side wheel opening where most of the filler is. The paint has an excellent shine as the entire car was just buffed. All trim in decent shape with minor pitting but no rust. It's hard to find these Early 64 1/2 Mustangs with the options this car has and this one is a great driver and with a little work and TLC could be really nice. You could also fully restore this car to stock with out spending a fortune. Please ask all questions prior to bidding 773-562-3925. All these items will be reinstalled prior to sale. On Jan-21-13 at 14:34:21 PST, seller added the following information: Here are some more pics of the car outside to show it in natural light. On Jan-21-13 at 14:52:48 PST, seller added the following information: The valve covers are also not original. Most likely from a 65 Painted Blue with PCV. I just want to make sure that was pointed out. I will be happy to take a pic of the Road Draft tube if anyone would like to see it.
