This car has been babied since new. It is a 2005 model that was originally sold in 2/2006. I looked at a dozen Phaetons before falling in love with this one. I am the second owner. The first owner kept it in his climate-controlled garage and rarely drove it. I have owned it since 2008 and have also kept it in the garage, giving it the care and attention this beauty deserved. The car has served me well and I am sad to see it go. I had every intention to keep it for a very long time, but with a growing family, we got a conversion van for trips and I got a VW golf TDI for my commute, so I can't justify it taking up my wife's spot in the garage any longer. The car is in perfect mechanical condition. It looks excellent inside and out. It has had a clear bra on the front including mirrors since new from the dealer. The bra is showing some wear. You could take it off and have a new front end, or keep it on for continued protection. There is a little curb rash on the wheels and it also has had two small parking lot scraps. The first is on the front bumper near the fog light. I think it was on the left side, but as you can see from the pictures it was repaired well. The second is the driver’s rear quarter panel. There is a small dent with the paint intact. It could probably be pulled out. The paint has a very deep dark shine. Buy with confidence. The car is still under the Original Extended Warranty until 2/27/2013! I will take care of the paperwork and the fee to transfer the warranty to the new owner's name. The car has always been maintained with routine oil changes with VW-recommended Castrol Syntec, brake flush every 2 years, new pollen filter, etc. In the past year it has gotten a 4 wheel brake job with new pads and rotors, new tires, and transmission flush and software update (to prevent the rough shifts talked about on the online boards). The car has been easy to maintain with no major problems. I have had the radio unit replaced under warranty and the ignition coils replaced under a VW voluntary recall. The only other issue I can think of is the tire pressure monitoring system. It has always seemed overly sensitive and would frequently indicate "low tire pressure" with any change in temperature (pulling out of the garage in cold weather). I had the VW dealer work on it twice, but it remained very sensitive. I finally used my VAG-COM ( http://www.ross-tech.com/index.html ) to disable the TPMS. It was the perfect solution as far as I am concerned. To the new owner, I will include an old laptop with the VAG-COM software installed and cable to turn back on the TPMS if you really want the hassle or any other custom features you may like. I will also include a custom DICE iPod controller. It replaces the 6 disc changer in the glove compartment and lets you control your iPod with the factory radio. I will include both the rubber and the carpet floor mats that I have. The driver's mat is getting worn and may need to be replaced soon. Also, if I kept the car, I would plan on doing a timing belt change in the next year or so. If you use the “Buy it now” I will include a set of 19” Bentley Continental GT Factory OEM wheels with Pirelli P Zero Rosso summer tires. I put a total of a thousand miles on these this summer. They look great on the car and since the Phaeton is a Bentley in disguise, they fit perfectly and improve the already impressive handling of the Phaeton. The Bentley wheels are NOT included unless you use the ‘Buy in now”. You will not be disappointed with this beautiful car. From the soft close doors, to the adjustable suspension, to the intelligent climate control system that adjusts everything to keep you at the right temperature while preventing “drafts,” this car is a complete pleasure to drive.
