Vehicle Detail

Up for sale I have a beautifully restored and modified 1961 Corvair Lakewood 700 Wagon. I purchased this rust free car in December 2010 in Texas where it had been in storage for many years. The mileage at the time showed 27,000 miles which we believed could be the original miles given the condition of the body and interior. The car runs and drives as it should, and could be driven anywhere...I've put about 1300 miles on the wagon since restoring, mostly to Corvair meetings and events. I'm a member of CORSA , and the former president of the local Dallas Club, (NTCA). For those who are Wagon fans, this is one to have!!!!! The car has undergone a complete restoration top to bottom, front to back. I can supply pictures before during and after the build. Mechanically, the car is almost stock, with a few minor enhancements. Detailed below lists what was completed. I have many receipts from my mechanic as well as Clarks Corvairf or the items purchased. Front end removed, blasted, repainted and all components replaced to new specs, along with newly rebuilt steering box for easy driving. Gas Tank removed, cleaned and chemically coated and replaced. All Shocks Replaced Rear components taken apart cleaned, repainted and replaced as needed. Complete brake system replaced including all lines New 14” Tires and Wheels (280Z Datsun) that were reconditioned to look like new. Original 80 horse engine removed, disassembled and converted to a 102 by Steve Goodman at Rear Engine Specialists in Golden, Colorado. Those who know Steve can attest to his quality and dedication to perfection. The build included new pistons, valves and head work. The carbs were also replaced to match a 102 engine. The only modifications to the mechanics are an electric fuel pump and a pertronix igniter. The original powerglide was removed disassembled and completely rebuilt. There is a very slight leak that appears when the car sits for several days without being driven, but does not affect the drivability of the car. The interior was completeley gutted and removed to give a more custom look to the wagon. As you can see by the pictures, there are four bucket seats, taken from a mazda 626 that I had professionally recovered and installed for the perfect look in my opinion. Both front seats are power. The rear are stationary. The center console was custom made for the car and had speakers installed so I would not damage the integrity of the doors. I”ve also installed a nice AM/FM/CD player in the original location that looks tasteful and sounds awesome. The dash was replaced from a Monza Spyder and chromed during the process. The only gauge that currently does not function is the gas guage which can be remedied by replacing the wire that runs from the tank to the cluster. The gauge is in working order, however the wire is kinked along the way. The body was stripped and taken down to bare metal, primed and painted Bahama Blue. I have pictures of the body work along the way. The car was shown in Denver in 2011 at the national Corvair Convention and scored 95.4, which elevated it to Senior status it's first showing. Folks, this is quality Corvair. I have spent thousands of dollars which makes me ill when I think about the time I have invested in this project. However, times have change and I do not have the time to dedicate to the hobby along with moving to a new home that doesn't have the storage space required to maintain this beauty. I'll be adding a few more picutures in the next day or two of the engine and trunk compartments. Shipping will be the winning bidders responsibility, however I will be willing to help as needed. Thanks, and good luck!!! Posted with eBay Mobile
