Vehicle Detail
Very Rare 1966 Jeep Super Wagoneer 51,678 Low Mileage Auto 4x4 327 Vigilante The Super Wagoneer is coined as being the first "luxury SUV" before anyone ever used that phrase. Jeep was the first automaker to put luxury features in a rugged truck. Only 3989 of these were built between 1966 and 1970 and predates the "woody" style Grand Wagoneers most people know. The VIN number of this vehicle is 1414D100037, which makes this the 37th one made because the VIN numbers start on the Super Wagoneers at VIN 1414D100001. AMC 327 Vigilante V8 with 270 horsepower. Documented actual 51,677 original miles, receipts to prove this. I have 3 of the original hub caps. What luxury features does the Super Wagoneer have that the regular Wagoneers did not have? Automatic TransmissionPower SteeringFactory in-dash air conditioningPower rear windowTilt steering wheelDay/night rear view mirrorInterior ceiling lightsMore chrome and fake wood interior detailsDual hood ornamentsExtra gold and chrome exterior trimVinyl exterior roofPassenger side vanity mirrorDual tone hornThis Super Wagoneer runs and drives good, motor sounds excellent. The gas tank has a hole in it (see picture) using small gas tank under the hood to drive around (see engine picture). The air conditioning belt is off of it, so I do not know if it works, but the heater works excellent. The electric motor for the rear window went out, so a manual crank was added. The headliner sagged and there is coated wire holding it up (see picture). There is bondo behind the rear wheels (see picture) that is the only bondo that I could find on the vehicle, and I couldn't find any other repairs or rust anywhere. The last picture shows what the Super Wagoneer looked like before the previous owner poorly painted the outside to make it two-toned, painted the interior carpet a darker blue, and duct taped the armrests. Overall this vehicle is in good condition, and is very rare with a low production number. This Super Wagoneer is number 37 of the very first luxury SUV ever made in the world, before the Land Rover, Grand Wagoneer, and Hummer.
