See way more pics here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/off2hcky/sets/72157631884450907/ Check out one of the nicest examples of a 1970 Mustang Mach 1 out there. Its a well equipped Dearborn built, Waco, TX car with an H Code 351 Cleveland 2V, FMX transmission, Power Steering, Power Front Disc brakes, A/C and tinted glass. Whats even more special about it is the super rare Light Ivy Yellow paint code. I bet most have you have never seen a Mach 1 in this great color. There weren't many made and most were repainted in more common red or blue. The condition of this car is darn near immaculate. It has just completed a multi phase over four years complete ground up restoration. To make the long and expensive story short, It was completely stripped to bare metal from the top down and everything meticulously cleaned, blasted, powdercoated or painted. As you can see from the pictures you can eat off the engine compartment and undercarriage. More recently, this past June I just completed a complete bodywork and paint project. Car was part blasted and part chemically stripped down to bare metal and sealed with PPG DPLF Epoxy primer. All the necessary bodywork was completed to high standards. Car retains 85% original sheetmetal (which includes all original floors!) and you will be hard pressed to find what panels were repaired/replaced. After body was smoothed out, it was topcoated with PPG MBC Acrylic base followed by several coats of PPG DCU2021 Clear. It was then wetsanded and buffed to a smooth shine. Car was then carefully reassembled. All panels have excellent alignment. Entire process was documented and I have a TON of pictures. As far as parts, throughout the entire process, I tried to use mostly original, period correct parts or the best repros and/or original tooling parts. I have over $18K in receipts, over $14k spent since I have owned it the last 5 years. Note that I have done 90% of the work and even though my labor was "free" to me, I estimate it would have cost me over $20k in labor if I had to pay someone to do it. As far as the mechanicals and driveability, I can tell you that it is an absolute joy to drive. The motor and transmission are not original to the car and were replaced prior to my ownership. (I have a receipt for the motor) The engine probably has less than 8000 miles on it. It always fires right up immediately and even though it is in this condtion, I love to drive it. I usually trailer it to long distance shows but I don't have a problem taking out up to 100 miles roundtrip. It even gets 17.5 MPG on the HWY. Not bad for a four barrel and 3 spd auto! Everything works. The A/C system has all brand new components from Classic Auto Air except for the compressor which is an original date coded one. I was going for original looks so the system is not working currently. Interior looks like new. It was originally an Ivy Green color and has been converted to all black. Everything has been recovered or restored on the interior. New seat covers, carpet headliner, sail panels, dash pad, door panel and it even has the original rimblow that has been restored along with an orignial Sportlamp switch. The only non-original looking piece is the radio. This car is always an award winner and even won "Best in Show" on its first outing after the body/paint work. But even more gratifying is that it is always a standout because of the rare color. It attracts alot of attention and it even was a "Celebrity Pick" at the 2009 Ford Nationals at Carlisle by Donald Farr. (Editor of Mustang Monthly Magazine) He told me it reminded him of his first car which was a 69 in a similar color. Its always kept in a heated garage under a cover. I have the Marti report as well as the original invoice. So why am I selling after all that hard work? Well, as much as I love the car and would like to keep it, I actually have another 1970 Mach 1. And you guessed it, its the same color. That second one has a little more sentimental value to me as it was a car my dad and I bought in 1986 and worked on as a father and son project. We had to sell it due to financial difficulty in the early 90s and I thought I'd never see it again. I actually bought the one you are seeing in this listing to replace my original in 2007 since it was the same color. Low and behold a year later in 2008 I actually came across my original Mach 1 on Ebay! (and bought it back!) So right now my original one is sitting in my father's garage awaiting its second restoration 20 plus years later. So due to my lack of garage space and anxiety to get started on my other Mach, I am hoping to find a new home for this one. I believe my reserve to be reasonable considering what you are getting. You cannot buy one of the "rustangs" (sorry!) I see selling on here for $8 - $10K and then rebuild the drivetrain, get major bodywork/paint done, redo suspension and interior for anywhere near what I am asking. (unless your like me and do ALL the work yourself) Bodywork and Paint alone will run over 20K if you need floors and quarters replaced and done right. Feel free to ask questions, however I ask for serious inquiries only please. I have only posted a few pics.
