Vehicle Detail

NO RESERVE! OPENING BID OWNS IT! You are bidding on an amazing, mostly untouched/unrestored example of a VERY RARE 1970 Ford Econoline 200 Super Van with the ultra rare "Sportsmobile" pop-up camper option. A clean and original van, wearing all of the original (green) paint, while the white areas were repainted approx 14 years ago. The paint polishes up and shines pretty decent when waxed or polished, but fades a bit over time. This vehicle retains it's original interior/trim (notate original "Sportsmobile" insignias below window cranks on door panels), original appliances, cabinetry, beds, seats, toliet, etc. The pop-up top/canvas material appears to have been replaced at some point over the years, and is in good condition, not torn-up, etc. Built on June 26,1970 in Loraine Ohio, and sold new in Shaker Heights (Cleveland), Ohio on August 31, 1970, this vehicle was not only built and delivered new to Ohio, but it has apparently spent it's entire life in Ohio as well. Unlike most Ohio vehicles which have 'lived' their whole lives here, this one is not your "average" salt-belt example. Most collector type vehicles from the mid-west are typically very rough; this vehicle is far from the normal vehicles found in our area. The body does not appear to have any serious or signifcant body repair/rot. The only two repairs or rust spots of mention I could find were in the middle of the RH rocker, where there are a few small holes and a few bubbles, and the area on the underbody, under the cabinetry area on the LH side where it appears some type of a repair was made there as well. While far from perfect, and it does have it's blemishes, a few minor dings/dents, etc, the body is still not like most 40 plus year old vehicles from Ohio. The underside is original, and untouched, I could only see light surface rust, etc. Vehicle has clean door jams, lower door skins, hood, van doors, etc. Notate original door weatherstriping, smeared (yellow) weatherstrip adhesive, etc! Currently it's nice as a driver, or if you want a perfect vehicle, it would make an incredible restoration candidate. These Sportsmobiles were produced in EXTREMELY LOW PRODUCTON due to the expense of the option in 1970! I have read online that the Sportsliner conversion cost more than the van itself back in late 60's-early 70's! This Sportsmobile has a nice assortment of factory options options too! Attached Marti Report documents all factory options: Factory-delivered options: 302 2V V8 Engine, Automatic transmission, 3.25 ratio rear end, Deluxe two-tone paint Cactus Green/Wimbledon white, Front/rear chrome bumpers, Spare tire, Air conditioning, AM radio, Heavy duty battery, Heavy duty front/rear shocks, Amp/oil pressure guages, High output fresh air heater, Bright grille, and last but not least, a Cigar lighter! Sportsmobile has been doing factory conversions for 51 years, and is still in business today! While hundreds of Volkswagen and Dodge vans were converted over the years, details found online show Ford vans of this era were some of the lowest and rarest vans converted back in the day! www.sportsmobile.com Runs, drives, brakes but has been in storage for the past few years. Brand new front windshield and gasket this year. Tires are in great shape, good overall condition. Spare wheel and tire is included but not pictured, tire needs replaced. Aftermarket radio and speakers have been added over the years. Not even factoring in the rarity of the "Sportmobile" option, this vehicle is one of only 19 EVER PRODUCED in this color combination. Adding the Sportsmobile option, this vehicle is/was clearly a one-of-one produced vehicle. Here's your chance to stand out at the local car shows/cruise-in's etc. What a super cool vintage tow vehicle this would be too!? I am listing this vehicle for a friend, I have personally photographed, and inspected it for this auction. Sold as-is, where is. No warranties expressed or implied. The vehicle is located in the Gahanna (Columbus, Ohio) area. Nationwide and international shipping available at an additional cost. Email with any questions, please inspect prior to auction if needed/desired. More pictures available if needed. Vehicle has a clear Ohio title.
