Vehicle Detail

2002 Lexus SC430 up for auction. Please read the description carefully as this is a less than perfect car. The price is low to reflect the condition. It is a no reserve auction. While not perfect by any means, this car can be driven and enjoyed for years to come. History: I purchased this car on Ebay in 2004. It was a lease return with 100,000 miles on it. It was not in good cosmetic shape at that time but the price was good so I bought it. The Wheels and tires were replaced and the service was updated with a timing belt change and a complete review of systems. The service record did show it had been in an accident and the service people pointed out the areas that had been repainted. I have since put 40,000 miles on it and it has been trouble free mechanically. It is truly a fun car to drive. I now wish to sell it to move on to another car and hope someone else can enjoy it and get a classy car for a really low price. The good stuff: Even with almost 140,000 miles it starts, runs and rides very well. After all, it is a Lexus and they are some of the best built cars on the planet. I can see this car going many more miles with regular maintenance. The wheels were replaced with chrome wheels when I purchased it. The present tires have about 2000 miles on them so they are good to go. Oil change is coming up at 140,000. All service records are available through a Lexus dealership. The car has always passed smog and the engine runs strong, the transmission shifts fine and all the electronic engine controls work well. The not so good stuff: As stated in the title, this car is cosmetically challenged. It was that way when I bought it but the price was so good I could not pass it up. From ten feet away and after it is polished it looks great. However, the paint surfaces are scratched in many areas. Some surfaces appear to have been abraded with cleaning agents or sandpaper. The hood has some small dents and numerous rock chips. The front bumper also has scrapes, scratches and the passenger side has the tip of the bumper separating from the body. The rear bumper has chips and dents and is detached on the passenger side to at its furthest extension. The left exhaust pipe is dented. The lowest extent of the panel on the drivers side has a 3 foot long deep scratch in it. If you wish more detailed pictures of the defects e-mail a request. The headlights work fine but the covers are sun faded. Two used headlights are included with the car if you wish to change them. The stereo system may have been abused by the original owner. The front speakers have static and are buzzy with ay bass tones. I have them adjusted so the back speakers are dominant and the system is ok to listen to but not up to par with the original sound this car was meant to have. The CD changer works fine and the radio is ok. The antenna was replaced with an non - original unit that extends, but not all the way and changes length when you switch from AM to FM. It works ok and you can leave it as is or change it back to original equipment. It does have GPS but the disk is outdated and was never replaced. I do not know if replacing the disk will actually make it work ok either. This is your choice. The trunk will not stay open by itself. The struts have to be replaced as they have lost pressure. The convertible top will open and close but only with manual help with the intial disengagement from the front latches. After the latches are disengaged the rest of the function works ok. On closing, the top has to be guided manually into the front latches. The top has been adjusted by a Lexus dealership as part of its regular maintenance but I do not know if its present condition is fixable. The interior leather does not have any tears but there are marks on both the passenger seat and the rear passenger side seat where a heavy object stretched the leather. Electric seats work fine. I have attempted to present the cars good side and defects in an accurate manor. I will add information to the listing as questions about it arise. Do not bid on this car if you expect a pristine Lexus convertible. If you can live with the defects as described and want a car of its class for a bargain price, then bid away. The winner of the auction has the right not to buy the car upon personal inspection of it. This only applies to a winner that picks up the car where it now located. If you ship the car, this policy does not apply. This vehicle is sold without any warranties or guarantees expressed or implied. It is sold as-is and where it is. I can assist with shipping and make it available for pickup. Please ask questions before bidding. More detailed pictures are available by request.
