Vehicle Detail
1961 AUSTIN HEALEY 3000 ******I have also had a lot of request for pictures showing the condition of the frame and undercarriage members. As you will see, they are still in very good condition and still very solid. Here is the link to those pictures as well. http://youtu.be/aTAu7Bj6Fpk I have been asked by many members to see the car actually running and driving so I have included (2) links to videos of the motor running and also of the car being driven. The motor running link is = http://youtu.be/xDOFyun_uzg The being driven link is = http://youtu.be/mNQP0xcYKa8 I hope this helps in answering all the questions and concerns about the condition of the motor and the limited drivability of the car since it does need some brake work. Please note that the car also needs a muffler and is a little loud, but there are no motor “knocks” whatsoever in this motor. It runs very smooth both at an idle and when revved up. Also note that there is NO smoke coming from the motor in the exhaust either and as I said, this motor runs at over 50lbs. of oil pressure at an idle. Please email me with any other questions and concerns and thanks for looking. I do not know exactly what parts are all missing from the car so the best I can say is that you get only the parts that you can actually see in the pictures. The framework and undercarriage seem to be in very good condition and still solid.... The car does have rust on the lower fenders and doors but they are still very solid above the lower portion. The fenders seem to still be completely secure to the undercarriage but they definitely will need "cosmetic" restoration at a minimum depending on the "level" of restoration desired. The wiring harness is still pretty much all in tact and even the dash lights still work. Mechanically, most all the parts should be there, as the car runs and drives. As the video shows, I have only driven the car just around the yard area, because the brakes do not work and they do need repair.... new brake seals, etc..... as any car of this age usually needs...but all the parts should still be there. The hydraulic clutch also still works fine as you can see in the video. As far as body damage…..it’s really pretty straight, I don’t believe that there has ever been any major accidents to the car….but the body does have rust of course, but definitely restorable. This car is being sold as “a car in need of a restoration” and you would not be buying a car that just needs a "little bondo" work and a paint job and that alone would make it ready as a “$100,000 show car”. (I had to put that in there because some people “want to think" that’s what is being listed for sell) As I said in the listing, I think the car is well worth what I'm asking in just parts alone, and as for the rest of the car, I do believe that it is in very good shape and would even be a very good investment if a “full restoration” is done to it. FOR SALE IS A “ONE OF A KIND” BARN FIND, A VERY, VERY RARE AND FAMOUS 1961 AUSTIN HEALEY BT7 2+2 ROADSTER. THIS CAR WAS FEATURED IN LIFE MAGAZINE IN JANUARY 1964 FOR THE AWESOME STORY “The Ape Who Drives Like 60”. Here is the Life Magazine link: (http://books.google.com/books?id=8FMEAAAAMBAJ&pg=PA11&lpg=PA11&dq=life+magazine+austin+healey+monkey+chimpanzee&source=bl&ots=Buxpff0wLE&sig=SA9nmzqZ0hZIXf6xrf4n1h-YwwI&hl=en&sa=X&ei=W1ogULa8G4iS9QSB4IDwAQ&ved=0CE8Q6AEwAA) NOT ONLY IS THIS CAR “FAMOUS” BUT IT IS A “ONE OF A KIND”. IT COMES WITH DUAL OEM STEERING INSTALLED AND DUAL OEM PEDAL CONTROLS INCLUDING CLUTCH, BRAKE, AND GAS PEDAL, IT EVEN INCLUDES DUAL HEADLIGHT DIMMER SWITCH AND TURN SIGNALS MOUNTED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE AS WELL. THIS CAR CAN BE DRIVEN FROM EITHER THE DRIVERS SIDE OR THE PASSENGER SIDE AND ALL MAJOR PARTS ARE OEM PARTS INSTALLED. THIS CAR WOULD MAKE A GREAT “SHOW CAR” WITH ITS HISTORY OR JUST TOURING CAR SHOWS, SHOWING OFF ITS “DUAL STEERING” ABILITIES! IT ALSO COMES WITH ONE OF ONLY ABOUT 1,000 EVER MADE….VERY RARE CONVERTIBLE "HARD TOPS"…… Mechanically the car starts, runs and drives but has no brakes. The brake system will need some repair, and the motor will need a tune up…..Typical for a car of this age. Other mechanical work may also be needed. This car has only 87,011 miles on it and they should all be the original miles. Another mechanical oil pressure gauge(pictured) was temporarily hooked up just to make sure the engine wear/bearings are still in good shape. This car runs 50lbs of oil pressure at an idle!!! All the gauges seem to work properly and the car even comes with the overdrive transmission switch. This is a nice unrestored car. This car needs restoration work so please ask any questions and address any concerns BEFORE YOU BID! The body is straight with a good frame/undercarriage. Seller believes that all the numbers including the body (3038BT7L6903) and engine (29D/RU/H9083) are matching to this car but if you are concerned, please check it out before you bid/buy. Car comes with all parts pictured. (All dual controls, including the steering and pedal controls can be removed by the buyer, if so prefered, since they are installed as the "factory" BT7R right hand steering system). I have priced out this car considering that I have been offered $2,500.00 for the hard top and I figure the Motor, Transmission, Rear End, and the rest of the drivetrain parts are worth at least $7-$9,000.00. I do not want to part the car out because I would like to sell it to someone who wants to restore it and keep it's "imortality" alive along with the story that goes with it. These cars restored can easily go up to $40-$60k depending on the level of restoration. Car had only 2 previous “family” owners and has been in the same family for a very long time.
