Vehicle Detail
For Sale, 1976 Mercedes 240D 4 Speed Manual transmission A/C, P/S. This car is a true barn find and has been in storage for many years before being discovered. With a little coaxing, some fresh diesel, and a strong battery I was able to get this car running and actually drove it home (not far but i did drive it). As you can see in the pictures there is a little damage to the left front fender area, but other than that body is very straight. There is some rust bubbles on left rear quarter (see pics) and also on the right rear roof area by quarter trim. Also one small hole in drivers floor size of a golf ball. Trunk is solid with just some surface rust under mat. Car drives surprizingly well, Brakes work well, transmission shifts smooth, engine starts and runs, but smokes. I had the valves adjusted, and the compression checked (good), new fuel filters. Looks like injectors or something else. Tires are in very good condition and the original paint matching hup caps are there also. All gauges work, including the clock. Interior is bone colored MB-TEX in good condition with no tears or rips evident on front or rear seats. Door panels are dirty, but in good condtion, map pockets are missing off front doors. Headliner is pulling loose around rear window area. Rare wooden glove box door, dash knobs and shifter handle, all factory. Paint is faded, but see pics as i waxed the passenger side and was able to restore paint to a very presentable finish with minmal effort. All trim is there, and straight, but needs polished. Original jack in trunk also. I have not seen another 240 with the wooden dash trim in all my searches and this is a cool option on this car. Milage shows 34355, is it 134355 or 234355, I do not know. All evidence from original owner pointed towards 134355, just dont know for certain. Would be a nice classic Mercedes to restore. No warranty, As-Is condition as this car is 36 yrs. old. First time bidders contact me before bidding, or bid will be rejected. Shipping is the responsibility of the winning bidder. A $500.00 dollar deposit via pay-pal is due at the end of the aution by the winning bidder with balance to be received within 7 days of aution end by cash in person, or certified check, bank draft. On Dec-26-12 at 10:16:43 PST, seller added the following information: Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, I have done what I could to turn this into a no-reserve auction. Therefore the vehicle is very close to making reserve and at that point will sell to the highest bidder. Have also added a pic of the car with the hubcaps on it. Good luck and bid to win!!
