Vehicle Detail
This is a heavily customized 1980 Chevy El Camino. I am now 50, a new grandfather, moving and simplifying. My loss is your gain. This is a powerful, fully functional car, with exception of cruise control. It has a crate GM 350/330 engine with air conditioning. The engine was purchased and installed in 2005 along with a dual Flowmaster exhaust. The rear end sports a Moser 3.73, purchased and installed in 2006 along with a Streetfighter TH-350 3-speed automatic transmission. In 2007, a Gear Vendor Over/Under drive was added to make this essentially a 6 speed automatic. Goodrich T/A tires and Cragar rims were added in 2006 along with 4 wheel disc brakes. The engine, transmission, differential, and all other upgrades has under 3,000 mile on it. In 2008, a digital dash was installed along with a Lokar Streetshifter. The bench was re-upholstered in 2008 and a Custom USA sounds stereo was added with companion CD Changer, Polk Separates and Kicker Subwoofer. The body was completely made over in 2009. A fiberglass hood, grill, ground effects, and ZR-1 style backend were added and the car was painted its current color of emerald green (that sparkles in the sun). Also installed were two new floorpanels and two door panels as those were the only places with rust. This car was spent most of its life in North Carolina prior to 2004 and has been garaged 100% of the time since 2005. The car is being sold as-is with no warranty. It is available for sale and pickup by owner in Blacklick, OH 43004.On Dec-18-12 at 23:26:46 PST, seller added the following information: Buyer (not owner as stated immediately above) is responsible for pickup in Blacklick, OH 43004. Buyer is also responsible for state taxes due at time of title transfer. On Dec-19-12 at 07:11:00 PST, seller added the following information: Below are the wheel and tire particulars. While is in great driving shape as is; here are two things that I have considered but haven't needed to do yet because my driving style and conditions have not warranted it. 1) If you plan to drive this car day in and day with full A/C on in 95 degree heat, you will want to consider upgrading ONLY the radiator as everything else is new and the engine has an electronic already. From June-Sept, I generally use mostly water, with a little antifreeze for lubricant, in the A/C system which allows the engine to run 10 degrees cooler. If you upgrade the radiator you will pull another 10 degress out. In the ditigal dash cluster you get a digital readout on temp to help you monitor. Since the car vents very well with the windows down, I almost always run it with the A/C off; however, the A/C does working properly as all the components except the radiator are still in a near new condition. 2) Tires and brakes have very little, almost no wear. 3) If you are expecting a car that handles/steers like a sports car, this is not the car. It is a powerful beast, but it is not engineered like a Corvette for handling. If you want a tighter drive, you will want to consider changing the steering gear box and invest in the suspension. Since I don't drive the car in the fashion, I never invested in those refinements. I have done my very best to honestly and accurately portray the condition and status of the vehicle. This as an AS-IS sale, so wants we trade cash for title, this car is 100% your responsibility. I will say that I have $20k of parts in the car over the past 6-7 years and all those parts while 6-7 years old or less are all in nearly new condition. This car has very little computerization, so on-going vehicle cost should be very low as this is still essentially a standard small-block Chevy V8 with a TH350 transmission. It will be straightfoward for mechanics to tune-up and service as you have it over time. I built it this way as to keep the on-going service costs down.On Dec-22-12 at 23:11:09 PST, seller added the following information: Topic 1) immediately above should read 1) If you plan to drive this car day in and day with full A/C on in 95 degree heat, you will want to consider upgrading ONLY the radiator as everything else is new and the engine has an electronic fan already. On Dec-23-12 at 17:49:53 PST, seller added the following information: The bed rails are included, but not show in picture. They are the original set, and match the color of the body, and are now installed on the card. Also installed on the tailgate is that trim rail which is new and is chrome to give it contrast. On Dec-24-12 at 13:56:02 PST, seller added the following information: Other items as the auction winds down: Car will have at least 1/4 tank of fuel. This engine takes premium gasoline. I noticed today on the final prep, that when the car is idling, the oil gauge on the Nordskog digital dash cycles form 0 to 45. The digital dash may need calibrated/adjusted. When you step on the accelator the oil pressure reads correctly and the oil level is correct as I checked it manually. This condition only occurs at idle. I am including an autometer mini set of analog guages in case this drives you nuts and you want to install an analog guage for peace of mind. I have a ton invested in this car and take very good care of it, so be assured of proper mechanical operation. I have included tons of manuals, including the Nordskog digital dash one so you can recalibrate the dash if you ever need to. The car has a new oil filter, new oil, new antifreeze, and new transmission oil. The A/C is properly charged an blowing properly chilled air. I also installed a battery tender connector in the right front wheel wheel. I will be including a battery tender junior with the car. Also included is a car cover. I ran it today for about two hours and it is running absolutely fabulously. It is ready for a new buyer and a new home.
