Vehicle Detail
Please allow time for all the pics to load up, there are quite a few of them! 1970 Ford Torino 429 Cobra Jet SportsRoof. First and foremost, the engine is not the original 429 CJ. It was cracked at some time in its past. The current big block runs great and the transmission shifts excellent. I do know that the numbers stamped on the block are D1VE-A2A. The numbers stamped on the heads are D3VE-A2A. The engine has an Edlebrock perfomer intake and Edlebrock carb. Please look at the Marti report for this car. This is a very well optioned car, and an excellent candidate for a fresh restoration. Marti report comes with the car and you can see the report in the photos. The mileage on the odometer is slightly over 24,000. Pretty sure it has rolled over and that is not the original miles. This car is inspected, insured, and driven occasionally, and I have the title in hand. This car gets tons of attention, compliments, and questions. Sorry, but I don't know much history of the car. I bought it out of Utah a little over a year ago. It has an old Mexican VIN doortag which leads me to believe that the car was exported to Mexico sometime in it's life. The car has power steering, power brakes (disk in the front, drum in the back), and hide away vacuum powered headlights that work great. It has a remote driver's side mirror. Wheels and tires are in great shape. Wheels are 14" Cragars. Factory air car. Air does work, however the compressor is not working well. All other AC components were replaced or repaired except for the compressor. Had to get a bunch of the hoses custom made. C6 auto transmission, 9 inch rear end. Open differential (non-posi). Brand new lowering springs in the front, new spring perches, new Duralast Gold battery (I will supply the receipt to the buyer). New starter. New front disk brakes, new rear passenger side axle seal. New 190 degree thermostat. New trunk seal. However, the trunk is still leaking. There is some surface rust inside the trunk section around the wheel wells. I removed some sections of the trunk carpet in order to get pictures, which are provided. I don't drive this thing in the rain ever, but I did notice the leaking when I would wash her. The new trunk seals did not solve the leaking. The paint is not very good, some scratches as seen in the pics. There is some filler that is cracking at the rear passenger fender. I have provided three different pictures showing this specific area. Paint is black with some gold flake and I personally hate it haha. If you look at the Marti Report you will see this car has a special order status DSO along with the special order paint. May be a one off color as the Ford # for the paint is unknown. I believe the original color was a bright blue, as I have found small, odd sections of the car that are this color (for example, in the back part of the upper trunk). Pictures of this area are shown below. The chrome on this car is very good. There is a small trim piece missing around the drivers side back window. Also the trim rocker panel piece has a good dent in it. I have supplied a picture of both items. Car runs and drives good. It has been aligned and tires have been balanced. However, at around 65mph there is a vibration in the front. The rear leaf-springs should probably be replaced. The bushings in the leaf springs are definitely shot. The speedo jumps around a lot and is not very accurate. The speedo gear could use changing. The interior is in pretty good shape. There are a few faded sections in the carpet (as seen in some of the pictures), and the driver's side arm rest looks like it was red one time, but was died black, with the black fading now. The seat inserts at one time were gold, and now have faded to a greenish color. The driver's seat has some lining that is coming out on the side. The center console has some small gaps on the sides of the shifter. All of these are captured in the pictures. All new led lights in the dashboard section. All the dash lights work, blinkers, hazards, even the idiot lights are working. The interior dome light was not working, ended up paying a mechanic $200 because he had to track down a darn short that was time consuming. It works fine now. Had the in dash temperature gauge fixed too. Stays cool with the new 190 degrees thermostat installed. The dash clock is there, but does not work. The radio is all original, but is not working. The windshield wipers and even the fluid sprayers work fine. This car photographs well, so it is a bit hard to show the imperfections. Please feel free to come and see/drive the car and ask any questions. On Oct-09-12 at 18:41:32 PDT, seller added the following information: I made a couple of short videos today. Several people are asking about the hide away headlights working, so I made a short video. The other is a short start up and walk around. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TdEx8C0lGZE http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YffBfoUx9oM
