Vehicle Detail
Description 1991 GMC Syclone-Single-owner Survivor While I purchased my Syclone over twenty years ago, I drove it for approximately eight years (110,000 miles) and then have stored it ever since. As many of you know, the Syclone was produced for only one year, and is legendary in its own right. At 0-60 in 4.3 seconds, this is still one of the fastest production vehicles ever built. This truck offers true supercar performance at a budget price. Here is a description of the Syclone from a publication back in the day: "GMC's high-performance pickup started as a standard Sonoma with a 108.3-inch wheelbase, six-foot cargo box, and ...a 160-bhp 4.3-liter EFI Vortec V-6. For the blast-off Syclone, GMC chose the Vortec, adding a liquid-intercooled turbocharger with 14-psi boost, 8.35:1 compression, port injectors, special pistons, oil cooler, and dual exhaust outlets. Those touch-ups yielded a rousing 280 horsepower at 4400 rpm and 350 lbs./ft. of torque at 3600, transmitted through a four-speed automatic. A special "sport-calibrated" suspension lowered the height by two inches and provided tenacious handling. Up front were independent low-rate torsion bars and a thick stabilizer bar; a solid axle on semi-elliptic springs held up the rear. Bilstein gas shocks were mounted, and tires were meaty P245/50VR-16 Firestone Firehawks on turbine aluminum wheels. This kind of horsepower at the rear wheels would have caused serious traction problems, so GMC made full-time all-wheel-drive standard. Produced by Borg Warner, it featured a viscous coupling and 35-percent front/65-percent rear torque split. A limited-slip differential further aided grip." While this beauty was in storage for many years, I recently put in a new battery and it came back to life. I had a lot of fun taking it for a test drive. This car is a survivor but I am including a brand new tonneau cover and new graphics that I have kept in their original factory boxes. The engine was replaced under GM warranty with an OEM GM engine that currently has 65,000 miles on it. I also have a complete file of the maintenance performed on the truck over the years. You can see the door sticker in one of my images if you want to see the factory specs. If you have any questions or would like to see the truck, call Yuriy at 312-755-2594 This car is deemed reliable, and in good condition for its age. Interior upholstery is original and in pristine condition. There are a few rust spots and it could use some additional TLC. Have fun bidding, and may the best man win!
