Vehicle Detail
1951 Cadillac custom. This is not your fathers Caddy anymore. It comes with a Chevrolet 402 engine and a 400 turbo transmission. The front frame was taken from a 1979 Trans Am subframe and morfed onto the frame of the 51. The cooling system is operated by two electric fans behind the massive vintage grill. Windshield wipers were from a 57 Chevrolet. The radiator is from 1970 Chevrolet Impala. The engine fan is attached to the engine still. Power braking is assisted with a booster taken from a 1971 Monte Carlo. The rear end is from 1979 f150 pickup. The fuel tank is from a 1985 ford f150 pickup. Tilt lock steering is from 1971 Chevrolet Monte Carlo. Master Cylinder and proportioning valve is from a 1971 Monte Carlo. The dash was sectioned out and replaced with digital gauges. The seats were taken from a 2000 Cadillac Deville SLS. There is dual exhaust system. The work yet to be done to finish this car is minimum. It needs rechroming on the front and rear bumpers, and a nice paint job. The floor has some holes and needs patching. There is surface rust and more severe rust around the rear quarter panel and dog leg area. It's not difficult to repair. The rear bottom seat needs to be fitted and secured to the floor of the car. Trunk floors are solid. All the windows operate manually. The car runs and drives very well and is a head turner. There is very little left to do to increase it's value and looks. All of the outer stainless and chrome are there except the rear view mirrors. The passenger side rear skirt is not on because it needs rust work around the area that it fits to. The heater is installed and needs to be finished plumbing to the dash for defrost. All of the hard work has been done. The rest is easy for the right person. It's a fun car, you can drive it now if you want. I would recommend redoing the floor for seatbelt installation. The electrical for the front seats are not hooked up. This car is being sold locally and I have the right to end this auction anytime. I took this car on trade, had my fun with it and now I'm ready to let it and some of my other projects go too. I will be selling a 1968 Dodge Charger project 383 a.c. car and a 1970 Buick Skylark Convertible a.c. car that is a solid running car in the near future too. Questions will be answered, just ask. This Caddy is a fun ride, not at all a show car, not a rat rod, a fun ride. It's a definite sleeper at the intersections. Looks just like a basic 51 Caddy at first glance, first hint that it's not are the dual exhaust and exhaust sound. Second is the departure from the intersection. There is a small exhaust leak, nothing major. There is also a small water leak under the dash I believe that is around the windshield wiper pivot if it's raining. The headlamps are new and very bright halogens, with a high blue light illumination. The engine and transmission was supposed to have been built over 10 years ago and the car was left sitting in storage most of that time. The original owner and builder was a professional body man and has passed away and never got to finish his project. I took the car on trade this year, enjoyed it and now I'm ready to let it go. It's a project car, but there is not much to do if you wanted to go on with it. You can drive it as is as I have or finish it to your satisfaction. It's registered and driven from time to time.
