UPDATE - FOR THE NEXT 48 HOURS (Until 3:00PM PST 17DEC2012), I AM DROPPING MY "BUY IT NOW PRICE". After 48 hours, the price goes back up. I have purchased another vehicle, and I need to sell this one. You may NEVER have another chance to buy a Westy as good as this one for this price. Don't regret your indecision.FOR SALE – My 1991 Volkswagen Westfalia full camper – I bought this camper through eBay myself, and now I am selling through eBay. First question, why am I selling it? Because I am at the age where camping in this manner is just too hard for me and my wife. I hate to part with my Westy, but it is time for a change. So, here are the vehicle details: I bought my Westy in August 2004 – at that time the vehicle had 176,000 miles on it. The vehicle now has 262,874 miles. The vehicle was in OK shape when I bought it, but needed a little work. Since I bought this vehicle, I have had the following work completed: At 177, 092 miles I had GoWesty install one of their rebuilt 2200CC engines, and I gotta tell you it is a damned good engine. At the same time, I had them replace: the coolant expansion tank, the coolant tank, the rear heater core, the rear heater valve, the rear heater, the head lights were converted to High Power lights 160 Watt low beam/400 Watt high beam, the rear wheel inner and outer bearings were replaced, the rear hatch struts, the motor mounts, the ignition wires, a new Bosch distributor cap and rotor, and various coolant hoses. ($5,694.37) On 20 December 2006, at 201,954 miles I had the transmission rebuilt. I did this as a precaution only, there were no problems at that time. At 252,339 miles on 28 June 2011 I replaced all four tires with Michelin HydroEdge P215/65R15 tires. They give the vehicle more lateral stability and should last another 40,000 miles with no problems. Just for information, the wheels on this Westy are Ronal wheels, with Bilstein shocks. This is a really good combination. In the last six months I have replaced the coolant hoses between the radiator and the engine, replaced the starter and replaced the front brake pads. I replaced both of the outside rear view mirrors, so now they both work via the electronic control. In May 2009, I personally installed the second battery under the driver’s seat with a kit I purchased from GoWesty. It works great. The primary battery and the secondary battery are both from Interstate batteries, and are about two and one half years old. I bought a kit from GoWesty and had the power window switches moved from the doors to the dash. This is a MUCH better location for these switches and they work really well. The stock horn died, and I had it replaced with a GoWesty electric air horn. Now when I blow the horn, people take notice. In November 2012 (this month) I had the head gaskets replaced and the heads rebuilt. I had one intake and two exhaust valve lifters replaced. I also replaced all the dash lights with GoWesty LED bulbs. This gives much more light on the dashboard. The vehicle still has the Wolf bra that was on it when I bought it. This is a very dependable vehicle, and I would drive it anywhere with no hesitation. I have all the paperwork for all the repairs I have ever had done to this vehicle, and will be glad to pass these documents along to the buyer. Will that be you? Please email me with any questions you may have. If you are serious and want to talk, I will give you my phone number. Happy bidding!18 NOV 2012 - Update - I neglected to mention that I have the complete set of curtains for this vehicle. I also have the snap-in screens for the side door and the lift tailgate. I installed the last two myself. These screens allow you to camp with the side door and/or the tailgate open. Great ventilation in the summer without the bugs! 18 NOV2 012 - I also will include the "Haynes VW Transporter Service and Repair Manual" and the official honest-to-goodness VW Vanagon Official Factory Repair Manual from Bentley Publishers (ISBN 0-8376-0336-6 {'Bing' it, k?}). This last manual is several hundred pages long and is the official repair manual from VW for this vehicle. It has every specification that you could ever imagine. You will probably never need it, but one can never have too many books. Right?
