Vehicle Detail
800x600 1971 Honda CL175 Scrambler, All Original and Un-Restored, 10,568 Miles From New, Frame # CL175 6005609, Engine # 6005620, Strato Blue Metallic, Electric and Kick Start, Manufactured 12/71 This Honda CL175 epitomizes the early 1970’s dual purpose street scrambler that became a permanent part of Honda history and still represents the classic style… The condition of this machine is original and un-restored. The frame and engine numbers are factory correct and original. It is the 175 (technically 174) cc engine. The gearbox is also original to the machine. This Honda CL175 is completely original and has never been apart. I believe I am the fourth or fifth owner from new. It is in un-restored and presentable condition, and starts up and runs every time with no trouble. The electric start works as does the kick starter. This machine has been in my collection for some time, is started on a regular basis, and ridden occasionally. When I purchased the bike, it had been sitting for same time not being used but in original condition. I set about doing a sympathetic re-commission of it by checking all of the major engine, transmission, and braking components for wear and safety. The gas tank was cleaned and coated, and the carburetors inspected, cleaned, and re-installed along with a new air filter, the oil was changed, and both front and rear brakes were replaced. The tire on the front is the correct style and size for the bike, a 2.75x18 and a 3.00x18 on the rear. The tires are the correct type and size that came new on the 1971 CL175. The rims are also original to the machine and are in good condition. I'm not positive the seat cover is original, but the upholstery is in fair condition with a small tear on the rear right side of the seat. The engine and transmission are in very good interior condition due to the low mileage and absence of any type of harsh conditions or abuse throughout its life. A complete cleaning and detailing was performed, and although detailing on an original machine is never completed, the overall condition of the finishes is good considering the age of the machine, and is in line with the mileage. The aluminum parts are in fair condition overall, but due to the originality, I did not want to go too far polishing any parts. The paint is the original Strato Blue Metallic and is in fair condition. The original badges are still applied to the gas tank, and remaining sidecover. All of the fenders, plastic covers, etc. are in good condition and are not in need of any type of repair. I am missing one sidecover and there is a dent on the right side of the tank that I believe can be either pulled out or blown out with compressed air. The CL175 on the road is very easy to handle, and rides down the road very tight, with no shakes, shimmies, or rattles. It shifts and accelerates smoothly and holds the road as it should. There is absolutely NOTHING that needs to be done to this machine to ride and enjoy it. The new owner can make the decision to either ride it the way it is or restore it. Unlike other motorcycles for sale on the internet, this one is ready to ride and not in need of any expensive service once you get it home. I am always looking for new machines to add to my collection and have several other Honda road bikes as well as several motocross and enduro machines for sale, including other early Maico machines as well as Gilera and Can Am motocross and enduro machines. Please contact me if you are interested or have something interesting for sale. TERMS: $500 DEPOSIT WITHIN 48 HOURS OF AUCTION CLOSE.
