Vehicle Detail
1974 Porsche 914 Limited Edition, Creamcicle, Can Am (paint package code U2V9) is a very complete, original (89,150 miles) and well documented car … currently undergoing a full restoration. History of car has been tracked back to the owner (Doug) in 1992 -1998. He remembers purchasing the car in Baltimore, Maryland. The history prior to 1992 is unknown. This car was originally manufactured at the factory on February 20, 1974 as a Can Am LE Creamcicle (see documentation and ID codes). Sometime prior to 1992 the car was painted black and yellow to mimic a Can Am LE Bumblebee. It is known and documented that some Porsche dealers repainted Creamcicles in 1974 to look like Bumblebees as they reported to be easier to sell. Car was sold to a new owner (Zach) in December 1998. The car at this time was still a fully running and drivable vehicle. Zach identified that the car was originally manufactured as a Creamcicle – paint code tag L80E, drove it and then started disassembly of the car to start restoration back to its original factory condition. Zack decided to sell the car in 2009 after loosing interest in the project. I purchase the car in 2009 with the goal of completing the restoration. This is a complete all-numbers correct car with a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity. The 2.0 fuel injection engine and transmission are original to the car and have not been modified. Note that the engine number matches the Certificate of Authenticity. All 5 Mahle wheels appear to be original to this car – traces of the Phoenix Red (L32K) paint remain on wheels. All glass, window mechanisms and trim are complete and original, very nice gas tank. All exterior body panels have been stripped down to bare metal and primed. Hood, trunk, bumpers, engine cover panel and rocker panels have all been media blasted and primed. Passenger side quarter panel (hell hole side) was completely removed, inner structure fully repaired, new battery tray, and old stock quarter panel replacement (note: does have some light skim filler in the panel). Drivers side quarter panel has had a previous repair to the wing and has some skim filler in the panel. Small weld-in patch panels with skim filler in hood, trunk and front fenders. Both doors are very solid with no rust or filler. Floor is solid with some weld –in patch panels. Jack pads are solid. Interior of the car is complete and original. Clear Virginia title in my name. If you want an original 1974 Can Am LE Creamcicle … restoration project this is the car for you. Car is ready for final bodywork, paint and reassembly. Very reasonable reserve for a rare documented car. Please look at all the pictures and ask question before you bid. Email me if you would like more pictures as I have many more including some showing bare metal panels.
