Greetings from MISSIONmoto. MISSIONmoto is a Washington state non-profit 510c(3) motorcycle ministry that takes donated motorcycles, scooters, parts, tools, etc, fixes and sells the items and gives the profits to missionaires, orphans, and special needs kids. Amen. We are registered with Ebay Giving Works and Paypal's non-profit program (donate@missionmoto.org). Check us out on Facebook. Great story with this one. It was donated by Jimmy G., our Creative Director. His father, Bill Garland, died earlier this year when he lost his battle with cancer. Bill was a missionary in the airwaves with radio ministry and on the field. The best way for us to honor Mr. Garland's ongoing legacy is to dedicate all the profits to the missions efforts he was involved in. The design inspriration was threefold. First, the original owner Seth (part of and big supporter of the crew), was hired to photograph surfers to promote Christian surfiing ministry; hence, the surfboard stripes and seat. Second, we looked to our impressive hotwheels muscle car collection for a 100% manly-dude-something (we found a Shelby Cobra with drag pipes) ;because, lastly, Jimmy G. took up seriously supporting "Mo"vember promoting mens health and early screening. The bike was worked on during the fund raising November month and progress with before and after pictures were posted on Facebook which helped him in rasing "Mo"vember awaareness. We completed it in time to make an Amazon.com's Movember fundrasing event (the bike's colors matched the design campaign). We rolled it into the Tom Douglas' Bravehorse Tavern restauraunt for display. The all- volunteer MISSIONmoto crew really worked hard to make this happen. What we did:Runs, idles, titledReplaced bottom end gaskets when polishing out all coversReplcaed oil and new oil filter and gasketCleaned air filter- standard air setup Removed, cleaned in ultrasonic machine and polished carbs, repaced one idle jet (standard jetting) and reset float height Installed custom cafe seatInstalled clubman barsHours and hours of polishing and cleaning everythingRebuilt front brake and painted with caliper paint Installed custom rear brake lightTouched up with Black satin paint/removed rust from areas on framePrepped body work using Rage Gold body fillerPrimer was 2x EuropeanCustom Paint and Clearcoat was Dupont. Stripes are painted.Left the frame intact, no modificationsLeft the standard wiring harness intact from when the bike was donated, no modifications, just added the custom brake lightMade sure headlight, starter, brake light, dash lights work Things that could be done by the new owner:Down the road, get new tires, chain, and battery. All normal items needed at some point on a vintage bikeUpolster a seat pad and modify frame so the seat fits completely flush if you are not going to revert back to a stock cb550 seat.Perhaps install turn signals and mirrors based on taste Replace nuts and bolts that are showing wear and rust (was not in our budget)Continue with more polishing, maybe add some vinyl pinstipping tape along white painted stripes to make an extra clean edgeUse this bike for a baseline for a complete frame off custom cafe build, or revert to stockModify rear foot rest if rearsets are desired and if you are not going to revert back to stock Overall project was done so that the new owner has the option to revert back to a stock cb550 if desired. We all agreed its time we stop on this one, sell it, get the money to the missionairies and more space in the shop. Thanks for taking the time to look and see what Christ is doing through us!
