Vehicle Detail

Hello, Up for sale is my 1986 GMC Sierra Classic K1500 with 8' bed and 83,552 original miles. It is a 305/4-speed automatic (700R4), 4x4. I'll start out by giving you a bit of owner history. The truck was originally purchased in Georgia by Betty Kehrer. I believe it was purchased for her son. He passed away and the truck was passed on to his step sister, Margaret Nettinga on July 25th, 1997. Margaret lives in the Netherlands so the truck was basically just put in storage. They would take it out for a few weeks each summer to use around their cottage. They eventually sold their home here in Michigan and and since Margaret was a long-time friend of my mother, she gave the truck to her earlier this year (it had been titled in her name for quite some time to avoid complications with insurance and registration). My mother and step-father drove it for several months but realized they needed a car they could drive year-round. I offered to buy them a different used truck so this one wasn't exposed to Michigan winters. That is when it passed to me. I was planning on installing a lift kit and swapping the engine but then thought that perhaps there was someone that was looking for an extremely clean, original box-body truck so I've decided to put it up for sale instead. On to the specifics. EXTERIOR As mentioned earlier this was originally a Georgia truck. It was then brought to Michigan and stored every winter (and for most of the rest of the year). As such it has no rust or rot. In fact, to the best of my knowledge all body panels and paint are completely original. Overall it looks fantastic for a 26-year-old truck. I have had many compliments in parking lots. It does have two areas of damage from previous drivers. 1) the front bumper, right-hand side was bent-up when my mother banged a telephone pole while leaving a parking lot. I have included a picture of the bend in the bumper as well as the scuff on the right-hand front fender wheel well. 2) Someone in the past must have backed into something as the left-side rear box corner was pushed in by the rear bumper and the bumper itself is a bit pushed in. I have included pictures of both of these areas. Also, it has the normal scratches and dings from 26 years of usage. It still has the original Rally Wheels from the factory in nice condition with all the original center caps. The truck has a walk-in cap on it. It was made by TRI-GLAS and is called an XCALIBER. I have tried to do some research but I really can't find anything about this manufacturer or model. The cap itself is in excellent condition. It has a walk-in door in the back with a locking handle. I also have the original tailgate for the truck. There are Goodyear tires currently on the truck. The front are Goodyear AT/S and the rear are AT. The tires are still in quite good condition but the right rear is a bit low on tread. There is a full-size spare as well. INTERIOR The interior is in excellent condition. No tears or rips in the seat. It has the original floor mats from GM. The only issues are 1) the headliner is sagging. Not surprising as it is the original part. 2) the original stereo was replaced at some point with an Alpine deck with removable face plate. I think the Nettingas did this in the '90s. There are some cracks in the dash on the speaker grills and a small tear on the passenger end (I included pictures of these). Door panels are excellent. Glass has no cracks. MECHANICAL I have had no problems mechanically with the truck. When I picked it up I drove three and a half hours with no problems and have taken several 30 miles trips as well. Sometimes when you start it there is a bit of a rattle under the truck for a few seconds. I crawled under and it looks like there might be a loose exhaust clamp by the converter. I believe that the right-side fuel tank (it has dual tanks) should probably be cleaned. My stepfather said it has some bad fuel in it. I have just been using the left tank with no issues. I did also notice while taking pictures that one of the screws is missing on the left-upper for the fan shroud. I'm sure it could use a good tune-up but it fires up fine every time and I haven't had any problems. As for electrical, the power windows work, the power locks work, the heat works, the A/C works but I would say it is "cool" rather than "cold". I'm sure a refrigerant refill is needed at this point. The four-wheel drive functions without issues. ACCESSORIES AND OPTIONS I took a picture of the RPO codes from the glove box but here is a typed version: A28 SLIDING REAR WINDOW A01 TINTED GLASS-ALL WIN CD4 INTER W/S WIPER SYST B32 FRONT COLOR-KEYED FL D45 EXT. The interior is burgundy. It has power windows and locks, tilt steering, A/C, cruise control, intermittent wipers and a sliding rear window. I have the original owner's manual. Also included will be a GM factory service manual that I have for the truck. SUMMARY Hopefully I haven't forgotten anything. To sum up, this is an extremely clean, low mile, all-original truck. As far as I know, the only things that aren't original are the tires, battery, plug wires and stereo. Oh, I also noticed that the original jack is not there but there is a hydraulic jack behind the seat as well as lug wrenches and an extra trailer ball. I have tried to take pictures of everything I have mentioned as well as normal rust areas on other trucks to show how clean they are here. I may very well have overlooked or forgot to mention something so please feel free to email with any questions you might have. This is a very nice truck and I really hope it goes to a good home. I will consider trading for equally clean vehicles, especially for the following: 1987-93 Mustang GT (manual transmission), IROC-Z, Monte Carlo SS, Grand National, Suburban (4x4, preferably 3/4 ton), 3/4 ton trucks, K5 Blazer. Thank you for looking.
