Vehicle Detail

1980 CM400A 2 speed Automatic- Give it Gas & Go! Low Reserve Price The Story Behind the Vehicle you are bidding On: You are binding on a gently used 1980 Cm400 automatic with 5500 original miles! This is a relatively rare motorcycle and has a 2 speed automatic transmission! No clutch or shifting with this Honda - just give it gas and your on your way! This motorcycle has been garaged and put in storage for the last 10 years The motorcycle is in really nice shape and is mechanically and cosmetically better than would be expected of a motorcycle built in 1979. I recently decided to get it running and get it ready for a new home. If you are interested in mid size and automatic read on. Recent mechanical work:- I started the project by removing the carbs and to my surprise they were both in good shape compared to other recent projects. I disassembled both carbs and all jets and circuits were cleaned, the carbs were set to factory and the cables were lubed. I installed an inline filter, removed the stabilized gas and inpected the gas tank- The inside of the tank is in great shape and shows no rust. I installed a new battery, new plugs and changed the oil and filter. The engine cam to life easily, sounded good and a test ride confirmed it runs well with no hesitation and the two speed automatic shift works well. Way to go Honda - great engineering! The tires look good with lots of tread and no cracks. After riding the motorcycle I realized both front and rear brakes need a little attention. The front brakes had plenty of meat but the front caliper was dragging and needed to be overhauled and the system bleed. Rear brakes shoes were very low and the brake shoes were replaced with EBC shoes. The rear chain is like new and has been lubed and adjusted. A meter on the battery verified the electrical system is charging and working properly! Cosmetic condition: It is said beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and I would say this motorcycle is a solid 8 out of 10. The bike looks good but is not cosmetically perfect. The for the most part looks good but in some spots under close examination shows some weathering. The original factory seat has been recovered and looks great and is not ripped or torn. The exhaust system is solid with no leaks or wholes in the mufflers. Head pipes have some gold and bluing which is normal for vintage motorcycles.. The engine cases are not damaged and look good but have been touched up by the previous owner. The frame is good but has also been touched up in places. The side covers are original and look good but the left side has some pebble damage and the left side under close examination shows some sun fading. The gas tank looks good but has major sun fade on the top and a noticeable ding on the top left side. A good body and detailing guy good make this bike look like new. The gas tank does have a tank bib which makes a big difference and covers a lot of the sun fade and cosmetic damage! Sorry there is no tool kit or owners manual with this motorcycle. Owner will receive a bill of sale and New York title with purchase. Take a close look at the pictures and if you want this motorcycle please place your bid! Interested in this Honda Cm400 Automatic?
