Vehicle Detail
This is my 1966 Mustang 289 2V Coupe up for sale. I found the car in a back yard in a small Northern California town. It had been sitting in a tow yard for 20+ years and had been periodically started. It’s all original and has only 62,000 original miles. My plan was to restore the car in a year but my plans have changed and I am now joining the Navy. I would like to sell the car before I leave. I can’t finish the car in time because my ship date has been moved up. This is a list of what I have done to the car. • Brand new BFGoodrich Radial T/A’s, repainted and polished reproduction styled steel wheels, new Mustang wheel center caps, new brake shoes, rebuilt brake cylinders, new rubber brake lines, completely refinished and painted brake hardware (painted Ford Blue), new KYB Gas-A-Just shocks (competition ride), rear end completely gone through and refinished, painted, and powdercoated, new seals, gaskets, and crush sleeve, leaf springs cleaned and painted, spring hangers cleaned and powdercoated, drive shaft cleaned and painted. • New fuel tank and sending unit, complete stainless steel –8AN line from fuel tank to carb, all fittings are Trickflow TFX black anodized aluminum fittings, new Holley fuel pump, Trickflow TFX fuel filter, Holley fuel pressure gauge, anodized black Summit Racing dual feed fuel line, new Holley aluminum Street Avenger 570cfm carb, Weiand Steath Hi-Rise aluminum intake, NOS Super Powershot nitrous system installed with 100HP shot set up but never used (bottle never filled). • Custom dual side exit exhaust installed (2 ¼" pipe starting at collectors and ending with a 4" stainless steel tip), all stainless steel exhaust clamps and hangers. • New speedometer cable installed, behind dash wiring completely sorted out and organized (and bad wires replaced with all connections soldered and heat shrinking applied). • All new radiator hoses and heater hoses, new heater core, new heater plenum, new heater vent tubes and vents, refinished heater box. • New glove box, new antenna, new headlight switch, new wiper switch, new ignition switch, new solid state constant voltage regulator for gauges. • New starter, new alternator, new regulator, new starter solenoid, new distributor cap, rotor, and points. • Taylor Thunderbolt wires, Moroso cable clamps, new K&N pre charger air filter, new valve cover gaskets. • New seat belts installed, new window cranks, brand new battery apron repair kit (not installed yet), new day/night rear view mirror, new right hand door mirror, new E-brake handle. • Powdercoated shock towers, powdercoated shock tower braces, powdercoated throttle linkage and brackets, assorted brackets powdercoated Ford Blue, transmission fluid cooler powdercoated along with all brackets and clamps. • New transmission lines, new battery and cables, Mustang GT gas cap with gas cap locking kit installed, powdercoated gas tank filler tube, and more. All of this work has taken hundreds of hours to do. I have $4500 in receipts for the parts listed above. I have kept detailed records of everything. My plan was to put the best interior you can buy in it which costs about $1500 for the complete Pony interior: headliner, door panels, seat covers, carpet, dash pad, etc. Also it needs bodywork and painted, has rust as seen in pictures and some body damage. I’m not withholding any problems with the car or hiding anything. I have taken detailed pictures of every spot of rust or damage on the car. This is an accurate description of the car. Can send more pictures on request. Send any questions. This is a daily driving car that starts up as soon as you turn the key and runs perfect. It is mechanically sound and drives nice. I don’t want this car to sit around and deteriorate and have all the work I’ve done so far go to waste while I’m away in the Navy. I will help load it on car transport if needed. Thanks for looking.
