Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is my 1976 Pontiac Trans Am. It is un-restored and largely all original. I have owned this car since the spring of 2005. It was my daily driver during the summers of my college years. Since I've graduated in 2007 it has lived its life in the garage as a weekend driver. Unfortunately it recently developed an engine knock and I was told by my mechanic that the engine needs to be replaced or rebuilt. I no longer have the resources for this kind of project so I've decided to sell it. Outside of the engine knock, the car is generally in good condition. It looks great from 20 feet, but does have a few imperfections upon close inspection. The odometer currently reads 24166, which I am lead to believe is actually 124,166 miles, as there are only five digits on the meter. Inside the engine bay is the original Pontiac 400 V8 with Rochester Quadrajet 4 barrel carb. I've added a set of Hedman headers which connect to an aftermarket true dual exhaust system with Flowmaster mufflers. The radiator is brand new and the battery is recently replaced. The car had the air conditioning system installed when I purchased it but I had removed it once it stopped working. All of these parts will be included in the sale. The interior of the car is in good condition, with only a few minor blemishes. I have installed an aftermarket CD player and upgraded 6x9 speakers in the rear, fully functioning and sounding nice. Aftermarket floor mats with embroidered Firebirds have also been added. The original shifter has been replaced with a Hurst ratchet shifter. The HVAC system does not work properly. I believe the blower motor needs to be replaced, and I have a replacement part which will be included in the sale. The analog clock in the dash does not work and the oil gauge does not work properly. The parking break doesn't work too well and could use some repair. Outside the car is also in generally good condition. As you can see from the pictures, the black paint is of a high quality and shines nicely. All decals are also in excellent shape. There are a few blemishes once you inspect the car up close, including cracked paint on the front and rear bumpers, a quarter-sized paint chip on the roof, and some minor rust bubbles down low behind the front wheels. This is a beautiful car and a great piece of American history. Once again, the engine does have a knock and will need a complete overhaul or replacement. While it does run at this time, it is not in good driving condition. The car is currently garaged in Middletown, NJ. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions. On Nov-15-12 at 10:21:07 PST, seller added the following information: Up for sale is my 1976 Pontiac Trans Am.
