Marketed outside of North America as the "Renault Floride" - a tribute to its birth at a convention in south Florida - the Renault Caravelle, as it is known here, is a small coupe or convertible designed to compete with the Volkswagen Beetle. This small rear drive car came available as a 2+2 Coupe, Cabriolet, or like this example, a convertible with removable hard top. The updated, for 1962, 956 CC motor produced a frightening 48 BHP, propelling this little car to a top speed of 89 MPH. Since this particular Caravelle was produced, it has been well loved. The paint shows major signs of wear and cracking - a sign that this vehicle was kept outside in the florida heat (where it lived much of its life). On the passenger side specifically, the paint is coming off completely, showing previous layers of paint. The body itself is actually in good shape, with no major waves or areas of repair (as far as I can tell). It would be a good body to start with for a restoration. The seats too are in well worn shape - the passenger seat has a tear across the middle (see photo). Mechanically everything is there, although it is not currently running - it does turn over.
