I want you to know exactly what you are buying so you can bid with confidence.Up for auction with NO RESERVE is an uncommonly nice 1997 Mercury Cougar. 1997 was the final year of the ‘classic’ big, rear-wheel drive, V8 Cougar. This 97 Cougar XR7 sports the Ford 4.6L overhead cam V8 and automatic transmission shared with virtually all of the big Fords and Mercurys from the Crown Vic to the Explorer & F150 to the Mustang. This is a smooth, comfortable modern drivetrain with good reliability that gets surprisingly good fuel economy. As you can see in the pictures this is a very eye catching car. The royal blue paint is bold and attractive, the alloy wheels with Cougar specific center caps show well, and the long nose and notchback styling are distinctive. This car looks great from five feet away, up close you will see the normal blemishes and imperfections that come from age. The car has clearly been kept by someone that cared for it and did not abuse it. There is virtually no door sag. The alloy wheels are in very good condition and wrapped in a matching set of quality Yokahoma Avid radials. The tires have nearly new tread. All the lights and glass are clear and unbroken. The interior of this Cougar is in exceptional shape for the age. The seats are leather outers with fabric centers giving you the luxury of leather without the worry about burning yourself on a hot leather seat. The seats are very comfortable and the driver’s seat is power adjustable in multiple directions. The rear seat in this car is quite large and comfortable for a coupe. It is nothing like sitting in the back seat of a Honda. I am nearly 6 ft and I can get in and out without being a gymnast and can sit fully upright and have some leg room. The carpets and headliner are in good shape. The door panels and dash are firmly attached and there are no cracks. The automatic climate control works well and the factory stereo sounds good. Mechanically, this Mercury is as good as I would expect a low mileage Cougar to be. The Ford 4.6L Modular V8 is a well proven engine with good reliability and ease of maintenance. It fires up easily and provides smooth, controllable power around town or on the highway. The sportier XR7 suspension rides well and provides good handling on a big car. The combination of the XR7 suspension and the quality Yokahoma tires give this car good control on curvy roads. The brakes are strong and stop the car very well. The cruise control has been tested and works. This car comes with a Maryland Inspection Certificate affixed to the windshield. The certificate is dated Dec 6, 2011 at 111,336 miles. I am NOT a Maryland dealer. I got the car from a MD dealer, and it came with the inspection attached. I am not very familiar with the details of the Maryland inspection process, I just know that it is one of the most stringent in this area. The seats are very comfortable and the driver’s seat is power adjustable in multiple directions. The rear seat in this car is quite large and comfortable for a coupe. It is nothing like sitting in the back seat of a Honda. I am nearly 6 ft and I can get in and out without being a gymnast and can sit fully upright and have some leg room. The carpets and headliner are in good shape. The door panels and dash are firmly attached and there are no cracks. The automatic climate control works well and the factory stereo sounds good.
Mechanically, this Mercury is as good as I would expect a low mileage Cougar to be. The Ford 4.6L Modular V8 is a well proven engine with good reliability and ease of maintenance. It fires up easily and provides smooth, controllable power around town or on the highway. The sportier XR7 suspension rides well and provides good handling on a big car. The combination of the XR7 suspension and the quality Yokahoma tires give this car good control on curvy roads. The brakes are strong and stop the car very well. The cruise control has been tested and works.
This car comes with a Maryland Inspection Certificate affixed to the windshield. The certificate is dated Dec 6, 2011 at 111,336 miles. I am NOT a Maryland dealer. I got the car from a MD dealer, and it came with the inspection attached. I am not very familiar with the details of the Maryland inspection process, I just know that it is one of the most stringent in this area.

Winning bidders:
Winning bidders are required to contact us within 48 hours of auction close and make arrangements for payment and vehicle pick-up. If contact has not been established and arrangments are not made within 4 days of auction close, we reserve the right to open an unpaid item case with eBay and sell the vehicle to someone else.
Vehicle Pick-up:
Arrangements must be made in advance to pick up a vehicle. We do not have regular hours, we operate by-appointment. We are very flexible and accomodating with days and times to pick-up, but must have advance notice or there is a very real possibility you or your shipper may arrive and nobody will be at our facility.
Accepted Payment Methods:
Vehicle will be immediately available for pick up if paid by cash in person. Payments made by wire transfer, check (cashiers or personal), or money order will be subject to verification of funds by my bank. The vehicle and title will be held until all funds have been cleared by my bank and made available for withdraw.
Paypal is not accepted for payment. This includes Bill Me Later.
All vehicles shall be removed within 14 days of auction's end. Any vehicle left longer than 14 days without arrangements being made prior to the end of the auction will be subject to a storage fee of $10/day.
Bid Retractions/Changes:
We take selling vehicles on eBay very seriously. In the event of any bid retraction or bid change, it shall be the right of the seller to honor or not honor the outcome of the auction. This descision will be made at the sole discretion of the seller and can be made at any time while the auction is live or after the auction closes regardless of any circumstance. Additionally, any member who changes or withdraws a bid may be permanently barred from bidding on future auctions.
The seller may, at its sole discretion and for any reason deemed appropriate, cancel any bid or restrict any member from bidding on current and future auctions.

The purchaser is responsible for any and all costs associated with transfer of ownership including, but not limited to: registration, sales tax, tags (including temp or in-transit tags), title transfer, inspection, and transportation expenses.
We are unable to complete any tag or title work, including temp tags, in-house, nor do we collect any sales tax or registration fees. There are Tag & Title locations nearby that can handle those tranactions. We will assist you in that process.
