Vehicle Detail
Selling my beautiful, personal, 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII. Has been adult owned and always properly maintained and serviced. Exterior color is Pearlescent White Tri-Coat with the classy and lovely Gray Graphite Leather Interior. Exterior color is stunning with paint still maintaining its beautiful sparkling shine and luster. There are no signs of rust as far as I can tell. Overall the exterior is in excellent condition aside from a couple of road chips and minor dings. Exterior may show normal signs of wear. I say this in the interest of providing full and an honest description -would rather understate than overstate. Vehicle has never in any accidents (please see provided AutoCheck below - I couldn't get it to come up as it should so I had to take mine and reformat it as best I can - I'll be happy to email it to you asap. Just request one from me at setyon@aol.com) I’ve priced her very fairly – these cars are hard to find in good condition and are getting significantly more $$$ than I’m asking (another’97 with 89k miles just sold on eBay on October 4, 2012 for $6,100 with 13 bids. – There’s also a ’98 LSC – same color as mine - with 96k and they’re asking $6,990 for it). They are hard to find period. Search for a 1995-1998 Lincoln Mark Series on eBay. You really want a '97 or '98. 1997 was the year many significant advancements and improvements were made (see Motor Trend Review below). This particular model and year (besides turning heads AND being way ahead of its time in engineering, styling, options, safety, etc.) has received consistently rave reviews from both experts and owners. (See below or look up 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII Reviews). The Leather Interior is is in excellent condition (and extremely comfortable) with no rips, tears, etc. and no significant signs of wear on any of the seats (including driver’s seat). The Dash, Steering wheel, Door panels, Floor boards, etc. are also in excellent condition with no cracks, peeling, or signs of wear. Mechanically in very good condition - she handles and drives beautifully. Glides down the highway ever so smoothly at any speed – from 40 mph to 80 mph (I don’t really push her but am rather gentle). But you can if you'd like – she was made not only for luxury, but for PERFORMANCE - with a top speed rating of 125 mph. The engine compartment is clean and free of any leaks, Alloy wheels are flawless, all four 225/60VR16.0 High Performance Continental Tires match and have approximately 70% of tread remaining. She’s been garage kept just about all of her life and mostly driven on clear days and in dry weather. Has never been smoked in, ash tray and lighter have never been used. These particular Lincolns came fully loaded. Mine includes (amongst the other features listed below); Power Moon Roof (no leaks, no issues), Premium JBL AM/FM/CD Factory Original 8 Speaker Concert Sound System that sounds AMAZING! (I’m lover of all types of music and appreciate the fact that this is one of the best sounding systems I’ve heard). Has Power and Heated Driver & Passenger Seats with Memory, Ice cold A/C, heat works great, with Automatic Climate Control for Driver & Passenger. Also includes Original Factory Integrated Cellular Phone. Comes with Original Owner’s Manual (still looks new with original Silver Cross Pen in it and the Lincoln logo on the clip). I also have all original books, brochures, pamphlets, etc. that came with the car. And most, if not all service records from new. Along with clear title in hand. This vehicle has been babied all of its life. There are no stories, no issues (that I’ve experienced or know of), and no disappointments. My car runs and rides beautifully and as she should. It’s a perfect all around driver that’s truly a pleasure to drive and own. A real driver’s automobile! This fine car has it ALL. Luxury, comfort, quiet, performance, and excellent gas mileage for a V8 (I’d say I get about 17-20 mpg average) – not to mention, this is one of the most beautiful and ascetically pleasing body styles made. I just had her checked, inspected, and serviced (September 2012). She easily passed New York State’s strict safety and emissions inspection law (with no issues). All mechanical and safety systems were found to be in excellent condition. Engine idles evenly and runs very smoothly. Transmissions shifts well and as it should. I would not hesitate to drive this car cross country or anywhere else with confidence. The mileage is relatively low for a 15 year young car, averaging about 6,133 miles a year. And these engines have been known to go for 200,000-300,000 mile if properly maintained (and this one was). So she’s got a lot of life and years left. Please keep in mind this in still not a brand new car and therefore may have normal signs of wear. Though none of this takes away from the fact that this vehicle has been well maintained and cared for. Car is sold as is with no implied warranty. Inspections are welcomed and encouraged This car is being offered locally and I reserve the right to end the auction at anytime. Buyer must pick up vehicle or arrange for delivery. I’ll be happy to assist with delivery to almost anywhere. The newly refurbished 1997 Lincoln Mark VIII now has more power, more features and even more panache. And it does everything so well. Among luxury coupes, the new-for-'93 Lincoln Mark traditionally has taken a second rung relative to the best from Asia and Europe. So for 1997, Ford engineering put both its powerful rear-drive coupe and the competition under the design and engineering equivalent of an electron microscope to find the differences and close the refinement gap. After time behind the wheel of the '97, it seems as if the fine focus has paid off in a big way. The car's dramatic new exterior features all-new high-intensity-discharge headlamps, a more prominent hood and a distinctive open-mouthed grille, a new re-sculptured aluminum hood (replacing the plastic one), neon tail lamps, chrome ellipsoid exhaust tips, side-view mirrors with ground-illuminating puddle lamps and LED turn signals, and new fenders and re-sculptured rear quarter panels. This new styling sets off the coupe's low silhouette and sweeping aerodynamic lines from the rest of the4 luxury / performance vehicles priced much higher. Also important, but less obvious, are an all-new interior, intake manifold tuning for improved engine sound quality, and steering-system and suspension refinements for crisper handling and a sweeter ride. Our test model was a stunning Pearlescent white with a tan, leather-wrapped interior with tasteful brilliant chrome wheels. While flogging the new Lincoln across a tightly twisting road course at Ford's Dearborn, Michigan, proving grounds, it quickly became apparent that the coupe’s redesigned steering is much more communicative. Gone are the over boosted numbness and dead on-center feel. The wheel response is now slicker and quicker, with gentle pulses that speak volumes to your finger tips when corner carving. Particularly at speed on slippery roads, we found these rim-to-hand whispers and the occasional wake-up call quite valuable. It wasn't until we got the '97 Mark out on Detroit's rough concrete roadways that we discovered the big improvement in the car's ride smoothness and the new instrument panel's structural integrity. Yawning expansion joints that loudly would have challenged the previous Mark's body rigidity and had its steering column buzzing like a giant tuning fork were swallowed whole with just a trace of tire thump. Engineers say this transformation was achieved primarily through subtle changes to the shock bushings and the tops of the shock towers. Overall, the Mark VIII has been improved dramatically. And with the styling and lighting changes, forget mistaking this Lincoln for any other coupe after dark. Between the awesome blue-white blast of the HID headlamps and the blazing red stripe of the neon tail lamps at night, the Mark VIII will now stand out when the sun goes down. The Lincoln Mark VIII's 4.6-liter/290-horsepower DOHC V-8 gets a new manifold to tweak the intake tract's sound quality. Designers added California burled walnut, a new console, and a power tilt/telescoping steering column. The new Mark is fitted with a new high-profile aluminum hood, powerful high-intensity-discharge headlamps, and wraparound neon tail lamps. If that’s not enough, there’s a computer system that, with the touch of a button, will analyze major mechanical systems, compute gas mileage, check the oil, display the date and time, and tell you which way you're going. The interior is lush without being too plush. Supportive leather seats are set in a wide, roomy cabin, all nicely appointed, with an uncluttered dashboard that steps down in a nicely flowing shape. And an absolutely amazing 8 Speaker JBL AM/FM Stereo System with CD Player. The gauges are simple and straightforward. The trunk is cavernous. The 1997 Mark VIII faces formidable competition from the likes of Cadillac, Lexus, Infiniti, Jaguar, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, and sport-utility vehicles driven by a legion of former luxury-car buyers. Our tests found the '97 smoother, quieter, more comfortable, yet more responsive than ever. It has taken a giant leap ahead of Cadillac's Eldorado in ride and handling and is way ahead of it time in every category – engineering, advanced options, styling, performance, and more. This keeper is perhaps destined to be a classic. I’d like to keep-her. I call one of my MK 8's the Millennium Falcon, especially at night when the neon lights fill the back end with a single glow. I call my Black LSC Darth Vader since it has no chrome and it wears the black mask. The aerodynamics on this car are incredible, in 1993 Ford engineers took a stock MK 8 to the salt flats and ran at 182 Miles per hour, with the stock 295 HP cobra motor. The interior is far ahead of it time and one of the most ergonomic designs ever produced by a US car co. Turn signal diodes inside the side mirrors were 7 years ahead in time. The air suspension was 17 years ahead and Mercedes S Class adopts the design in 2000. The fuel economy at 27 MPG is great and the passing power on two lane roads is out of this world, 60 to 90 in few seconds. It is too bad that Lincoln stopped making this beautiful design to produce a 6000 LBS navigator that drives like a woolly mammoth and looks like a box of rocks. Hopefully Ford will bring back the Mark 8.” best deal on a car i've ever gotten by ford man from washington d.c. | August 22, 2009 Rating from ford man Comfort: 5 out of 5 Performance: 5 out of 5 Handling: 4 out of 5 Exterior Styling: 5 out of 5 Interior Design: 5 out of 5 Features: 5 out of 5 Value for the Money: 5 out of 5 Reliability: 5 out of 5 "bought one with 165,000 miles and runs great. has LOTS of features that modern day cars don't have..." Well, well....when they quit making this Mark VIII they really rolled over....this framework could easily have been brought along year after year and made better and better but SUV fever won out I think. Starting with the '97 Mk. VIII why would anyone buy anything else? This car goes like a bat, handles a four wheel drift and stops like a two ton car should. Mine is now ten years old and runs like new each time I turn the key. They (that would be Lincoln) just do not make'em like they used to...this car will shine like the sun for at least another ten years...I hope they bring something like it back!!
