Vehicle Detail
Regretfully I offer up my rare 1969 Corvair 500 for auction. I am the second owner, purchased from original owners estate. This car spent it's entire life in western PA and has been garaged since day one. With the odometer reading a mere 28,090 miles, the car's originality shows through. Original interior shows amazingly and was assisted by dealer installed plastic seat covers that were still in place until recently. Frost Green paint is original and shows no prior body work. Sheetmetal is solid overall but has a few scrapes and dents, things I would not touch in order to preserve the car's originality. The only rust is around the lower valance below the rear bumper. Mechanically the car is complete with it's optional 110 HP power plant and mostly factory original right down to the operating smog pump, a standard item for all 1969 Corvair's, most of which have been long removed and discarded. Even the belt on the pump is GM issued. Car ran well but leaked some oil and smoked from push rod tube leaks, typical of Corvair's and easily remedied. Unfortunately the car is not currently running. Was running when parked a year ago but not now and I don't have the time to investigate why. I am moving, losing my storage and winter is on the horizon. Opening bid is low, and there is NO RESERVE. I have been collecting and driving Corvair's for close to 30 years. This is one of the most original, unmolested Corvair's I have ever seen. 1969 is a historical year with only 6000 cars built. Most hand assembled in a converted cafeteria at the Willow Run assembly plant. Here is your chance to get in on the ground floor of the collector hobby or own a 'survivor' Corvair you have been looking for. After all, they are only original once. The four tires on the ground are brand new 185/80R13's. The spare appears to be the original one. Also, I have the owner Protect-O-Plate and build sheet. Does it get any better? Bid with confidence. This is a no reserve auction and I have a clear Massachusetts title in hand. Good luck and feel free to ask questions. I will answer promptly.
