Vehicle Detail
1936 Ford 3 Window Coupe There are two things about eBay I hate. One is folks who misrepresent their cars and sell junkers as “totally restored, low mileage, black plate California car” and so forth. I go to great lengths to represent cars as truthfully as possible. As a lifetime journey level mechanic; I know these vehicles inside and out. The other is “buyers” who bid up and win an auction and then come up with some lame excuse and won’t pay. Please do not bid if you don’t have the dough, won’t make the deposit, or sit around and wait for your wife to change your mind for you. Nuff said. This completely stock Ford Rumble Seat Coupe is among the rarest of the breed. This Ford has never been modified, chopped, repowered, or in other ways altered in any way. Very few of these survived the ‘50s and the kids who ran them into the ground. It is a 3 window as opposed to the more common 5 window version and has all the deluxe options from a rear window that opens with a modesty curtain to a “1936 air conditioner” vacuum powered interior fan. It features windshield ventilation and a heater as well. The car has had a complete body-off restoration. The exterior paint shows good prep work and application, but has some blemishes and minor crazing in a few spots. Some carefully applied rubbing compound should eliminate almost all these issues. There are gas stain marks under the filler neck. All interior and upholstery are new or restored to original. There are no rust issues; a magnet test finds no filler in the usual places. The mechanical brakes were totally replaced with new or rebuilt drums, clevis yokes, rollers, shoes, and springs. The car drives beautifully. Tires have very few miles on them. The car has been regularly driven, serviced, and kept inside. The engine runs well but has a noticeable internal rattle that sounds like a carbon knock. The generator cut-out is inoperative and the electric oil pressure gauge reads low. A check with a mechanical gauge showed the pressure within spec. These will have to eventually be looked into. A Mickey Remund remanufactured distributor with electronic ignition comes with the car. The right door latch spring is defective and requires replacement. The brakes vibrate occasionally, but clamp the car down quickly and safely. Other than those things; the car is complete, tight, totally unmolested, and in near new condition. Here is a YouTube video of a walk-around and road test: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI-wytSl-KY&feature=plcp Seller’s representative will meet any potential buyer and facilitate an inspection and road test for $100 paid in advance via Pay Pal. The fee will be refunded if the purchaser buys the car. Will meet buyer’s transportation vehicle and assist in load-out at no charge. Vehicle is sold as-is, where-is, with no warranty. Payment of a $2,000 deposit via Pay Pal or wire transfer within 2 days of auction end; balance of funds prior to delivery. Any checks – cashier’s, company, or personal - will be given 3 weeks to clear before delivery. Please feel free to ask any questions. Seller’s rep performed the brake and maintenance work on the car and is very familiar with the mechanicals.
