Vehicle Detail
This is a solid, apparently rust free Texas car that was bought by a man in North Carolina, and he chopped it 5". It is a very nice chop job. He installed a Chevy Nova front end clip to lower it. I bought it from him on the basis of photos only, and got burned. I am looking to salvage some of my money. Buyer needs to take a look at it, or have a local appraiser look it over for them. I didn't, and I regret it terribly! It would take some work, but it would make a great custom car. Paint appears to be enamel, and shop chips on hood that could be repaired. I don't know the mileage on the car, as the gauges have been replaced. Mileage on the form is a guess, as it would not take "unknown" as an entry. It has what appears to be a tan leather pleated interior, that looks quite good, apparently from some other car. It has 4 way power seats in front, with console, and bench seat in back. Upholstery fits very nice. The chop is a nice chop, with only one small dent over passenger side, which should be easy to remove by a paintless hail remover person. The quarter windows and windshield are glued in place, with no rubber. It would be an easy fix to have them cut down, and installed with rubber seals. He installed a digital Dakota dash, and power windows, and remote power door locks. I have only one remote, but have new system included in parts.. The engine compartment needs some clean up. The 350 engine runs OK, It appears to be straight from the wrecking yard, grease and all. It could be cleaned up, painted, and polished parts installed with minimum cost. Chevy 350 transmission is OK. Firewall was not filled, but simply covered with a sheet metal cover, so a builder might want to take that off, or modify it. Rear end is Ford 9", with large lowering blocks. My intent was to do a frame replacement, with air bag suspension. I was also going to install a 49 Merc. dash, but had not located one, so I didn't do anything about neatening up the wiring, though I have a new Painless wiring harness. .I got so discouraged, I just gave up, and it has been sitting in my shop. Battery is sitting loose in trunk. I only ran the car from Dallas trucking firm to Tyler (120 miles) and parked it in my shop. It hasn't been out except to occasionally run it. Power steering is currently disabled, as I was going to install a flow reducer in system to slow the steering down, and haven't gotten it done. New parts included are: New Painless wiring harness, new Polished Aluminum steering column, new door remote with four remotes. Used parts: Set of original wheel pants, and bubble pants that came with it. I probably am making it sound worse than it is, and an accomplished builder could make a nice car out of it rapidly if they didn't do a frame off restoration. I just am getting at the stage in life that I can't do it. I'm 75, and just tired of working on project cars. I have had around 20 Rods and Customs in my life, and have enjoyed them. I am also selling my 32 Ford 5-window, show quality car.
