Harder and harder to come by...these cool little LOADED UP V40 wagons! I get a shot at 1 or 2 every few months. People hold onto 'em like a dog to a bone. Don't let THIS one escape your grasp like the last one! Needing a car for a daily driver but HAVE to have the cargo space? Child running back and forth to school? College? Have pets to haul and need a wagon? I have a solution for you. Awesome looking car, inside and out. Exterior is a 7 out of 10. There are signs of minor sectional repainting. Mostly driver's side below the door trim line. I only noticed it while I was crouching down wiping the car off after a wash. Can't tell until you are right on top of it. Otherwise the paint matches nicely. V40s were prone to rust bubbles. This car only displays some along the edge of the hood under the grill and a tiny spot behind the front wheel...common since there are no mudflaps on the V40 lineup unlike the 70 series cars. The front and rear bumper covers are nice. Minimal typical rock chips and scratches. No major damages or cracks to be found. Even tho I listed the car as black, it's really a dark gray with a tint of blue. Obviously no selection for this color. Really cool color and the paint shines nicely altho it could still use a professional detail to remove the minor scratches and scuffs from it's years of service. Only a handful of dings to be found on the entire car with no dents to worry about. A quick buff of the paint will return the car to it's former glory and 8+ status. Vinyl trim looks nice with minimal, if any, fading. Altho the tires are mismatched brands, they all have 70+% treadlife left at every corner. The fronts have worn slightly faster on the insides offering a bit of tire noise due to the worn upper strut mounts, which I'm replacing with new ones. Common failure on ALL Volvos. I always have these parts in stock ready to install. Rims are nice, vibration free, and show minimal, if any, damage or scrapes. Hood, roof and hatch look great. Don't be afraid of the rear trailer hitch. It looks like it hasn't been used in years. It doesn't come with a matching ball, but DOES come with the proper trailer plug wiring. It's very small and most likely ready to hold a bike rack or light single axle trailer. Transmission shifts perfectly with no slip or erratic operation. Fluid is clean. For whatever reason the passenger side centercaps are missing. You can easily find a pair on ebay or the junkyard if you can't stand it. Below I hold a penny up next to the tiny rust bubble on the passenger side. The interior is nice and clean. An easy 8 out of 10. Minimal leather wear on the driver's seat. No obvious holes, cuts or damage to be found altho the leather and center armrest show typical cracking. Steering wheel is nice. ALL the power items work as they should with the exception of the passenger window. I believe the center switch isn't working as I got the window down once. It flies back in the up direction but not again down. The driver's window was also lazy ONCE after a carwash going back up. It's fine now when dry. Another note: the cruise works when it wants to. Typical failure is the wiring or the arm. It shows "CRUISE" in green to show it's on, but hit or miss. I don't use cruise so it doesn't bother me. Power windows, HEATED seats/power driver, locks, sunroof, climate control with ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONING, wipers-headlights/front/rear, info panel, CD radio and more! Nice dark woodgrain accents. Carpet is clean. I hate smoke and I can see or smell any remnants of a former smoker. These are the things I personally like to see during a photo shoot that you will almost NEVER see in my competitors ads...shots of the startup and run gauges. NO dummy lights are on during run and ALL illuminate during startup as they should. Properly maintained vehicle. I've driven this car for 150 miles or so to check for what it needs and to ensure it's reliability. No worries. Full factory floormats. Complete UNUSED spare tire(hairs still on the tread) and setup are intact. Note the trailer wiring plug. Ready to hang under the tailgate when needed. Factory manuals are included along with the original Volvo dealer prep checklist and only one key and one keyless keyfob that will need a battery. The engine compartment is the most clean part on the entire vehicle! You can see history inside here even without service records. Volvo replacement upper coolant hose. Brakes work perfectly and are pulse free. Recent STRONG battery. K&N panel filter is installed. Oil and coolant are clean. Fresh spark plugs. I just installed a new flexpipe in the exhaust (another common failure) since it had a small exhaust leak. Nice and quiet now! BRAND NEW TIMING BELT AND TAG will be installed for your trip home and piece of mind (Just saved you hundreds in future service)! It is exactly time to replace. I'll also be replacing BOTH upper strut mounts. Normally they make noise over bumps but this particular car tends to randomly wander while driving and I can visually see the struts aren't sitting centered anymore. Replacing these usually puts the car back on the road driving straight. Typical wear item like I stated above. Engine starts and runs excellent. Turbo spools and operates as it should. Transmission operates perfectly. No signs of any major oil or coolant leaks. No spots on my shop floor overnight. No overheating. Outside the bad mounts and the light tire noise at low speeds,the car drives very smooth and noise free. Don't forget the ICE COLD AC for these few warm days we have left.
