Vehicle Detail
Only 2 prior owners. Low miles. It shows. Gorgeous. You've been on the hunt forever. For you, the 850s are too old for the money. Most "stealers" are asking insane amounts for their specimens. Here it is! Quick Story: As I scroll thru looking at other so called equivalent cars...I read the ads. One stood out. 4 sentences. 10 pictures...the free ones. I recall a price of $4995. Give or take. "Nothing wrong with the car. Drives perfect"...as I stared at a picture of the interior dashboard, I read that line. I noticed a RED dummy light illuminated. It's the typical "SRS" airbag light that comes on these cars. Probably nothing major but....was the seller planning to tell you this....maybe on the phonecall?? After you fly in on a plane or ride a train, perhaps?? You walk in..."oh btw, the car you bought has problems, but I forgot..."....huh? Be VERY aware. Read on....I disclose EVERYTHING I know about my cars. Good or bad. Inspect my excellent feedbacks please. Bid accordingly as I'm sure others will! Here's one of the nicer newer S70s that I've had in a long time. Not in mint condition by any means but superb condition for sure! Please enjoy the pics and descriptions below. Beautiful "SE" special edition version. Not really sure what this offers over a regular one but I DO know it's loaded! Altho it sports the base model Non-Turbo engine, it has all the expected amenities. The exterior is easily an 8.5 out of 10. Front and rear bumper covers are in nice condition displaying only typical light scratches and scuffs. All of which can be buffed out if desired. The front has the usual hardly noticable parking lot block scrapes underneath. Neither front nor rear have any major damages, holes, cracks or repairs. I'm no bodyman but I don't see any signs of bodywork or repaints. Below you can see the largest of the dings. Yes there are others but I'd say only a handful and all can be dentbusted if desired. The beauty of a silver car is it looks good clean or dirty and dings are nearly impossible to see! Matching Goodyear tires are very recent with the fronts being nearly new. All rims are straight and vibration free with minimal, if any, damage. Front brakes are also very recent and work perfectly. Hood, roof and trunklid are excellent with no damages and minimal rockchips. The interior is a 9.5 out of 10 all day! You can literally eat off of any spot you choose. Carpet is spotless. I hate smoke and can't see or smell any remnants of a smoker. Only new is nicer. Minimal seat bolster wear. Steering wheel is nice. Tasteful dark cherry woodgrain accents. LOADED with all the needed power items and everything works! HEATED leather seats (power driver), power sunroof, climate control with ICE COLD AIR CONDITIONING, homelink, cruise, windows, CD radio, info panel, etc! These aren't supposed to be on a BASE model, are they?? In a Volvo they are!! Think CHEAP insurance. Factory floormats are complete. Spare tire setup is intact and....UNUSED!! Look....even has the little rubber hairs on the tire! Comes with the factory manuals, working radio code card and BOTH keys, BOTH keyless remotes! Awesome. Engine compartment: clean enough to eat here too. Recent STRONG battery. Starts up and runs perfectly. No oil leaks. Clean air filter. Spark plugs proper. Exhaust quiet. Brakes are strong. Suspension is tight and noise free. CV Joints are perfect. Car drives straight and smooth with no unusual pulling or wandering. But Eric....where's this "Fresh service" you mentioned?? Since it's clearly time for service (I haven't completed it yet) a new Timing Belt and tag will be installed! Water pump also displayed a typical slight leak so you get a new one as well! I also smelled a hint of interior coolant. The 850 and S/V70 line actually had poorly designed heater cores from the factory. They don't puke coolant out leaving you stranded, but they "weep" causing a slight smell and you will ultimately need to replace them with the newer design. Which I have BRAND NEW and will install for your trip home! Believe it or not, like most things on a Volvo (against popular belief), the heater core is super easy to swap out. About 20-40 minutes start to finish. No problem. When completed the car will not have any major oil or coolant leaks. Speaking of poorly designed items, onto the downer portion of this car. You saw the NO RESERVE part, yes? As you may or may not know, the 2000-2002 Volvo 5 speed automatic transmissions weren't popular. Properly maintained, they last like any other. From the factory, Volvo states the trans fluid is "lifetime" hence people simply follow the directions and rarely service the fluid. Bad idea. This car presented itself with the typical trans "flare" issues when I got it. 3rd and 4th shifted with a BANG either up or downshifting. The front lower motor torque mount was shot. The 100k mile fluid dirty as any car would be by this time. Volvo or trans shops will tell you it's time for a rebuild. Sidenote:the valve body valves/electrical solenoids are the culprit. They get gummed up. You can actually buy the solenoids kit on ebay for a reasonable price and replace versus a new trans. Technically if the repair shop reuses the solenoids, the SAME problem will occur. SO....I did what I do in this case...service the transmission. Starting with a case of PROPER ATF fluid, I drain and fill it (over a driving period) to "flush" the trans out. Immediately I notice a shifting difference with the 1st round. Second round I add a full can SeaFoam trans tune and drive. 3rd round the fluid is now spotless and I add a half can of SeaFoam trans tune and leave it in. I also installed a NEW front mount and a NEW Volvo UPGRADE 'B4 Servo' that addresses this trans issue as well (old design failed, new fixes the failure) Shift flares and harshness have disappeared. Only after sitting at idle (trans heats up) did I experience a few floats while shifting. Then after going a mile or 2 to get back to driving temp, trans worked normally. Volvo cars technically "learn" the new fluid and it takes time for it to learn the driving habits. I try to drive the car as much as I can, but it takes awhile. Or you can go to Volvo and have them "reset" the adaptation values which still requires long periods of driving. At this point, the transmission is operating properly under normal driving conditions and I expect it to perform even better after your purchase. I mentioned the NO RESERVE on this car? For the records, if you inspect my feedbacks for a 2001 plain white V70, it had the same trans issue. I received a positive feedback from the buyer and his pregnant wife, who was to be the sole driver of the car. I would let anyone in my family drive this car! No doubt. I also suggest, since the car has such low miles, buying a REAL aftermarket warranty, you know, just in case the car needs a major repair at a later date. Just a suggestion of course. So....how's THAT for information overload on a car purchase? Won't get that from your local dealer...or anyone on Ebay for that matter. BID, BUY, and DRIVE ANYWHERE with 100% CONFIDENCE! NO RESERVE!! GOOD LUCK! I apologize in advance if I sound like I'm scolding....but this NEEDS to be said. This vehicle is AS-IS/AS-SHOWN. The vehicle is in Illinois being sold by a dealer. WE CANNOT BE RESPONSIBLE for your individual state's INSPECTION or EMISSIONS compliance. I am simply trying to offer you and possibly your family a quality reliable vehicle. Like most Americans, I still can't afford a new car. I regularly sell $3000-$6000 vehicles. Mostly what I would personally drive or own. I don't know if you are buying in my state or in Virginia or California...so I HAVE to make our cars ready for the road trip. I don't know who will be driving the car. So I MUST make it ready for your teen or your job in the morning. I can only promise I do the BEST that I can with what I have and what I sell. My EXCELLENT FEEDBACKS prove it. I'm not here to rip people off. I'm also here to help so feel free to contact me after purchase for anything. Even if you have any questions about a future purchase. Also, understand that I spend many countless hours (inspecting, repairing, cleaning, taking pics and writing specific personal ads) for everything I sell...not to mention the $125 sell fee that is charged to me at the end. Please don't jack around if you don't plan to go thru with the purchase. Thanks for your understanding. Now you're at the bottom. Hopefully I've covered the main specifics of the vehicle and eased your mind. I understand that you are putting yourself or your loved ones in this vehicle. I personally have put my own mother in an 01 C70 with 175k miles(which I just roadtripped 1500miles) and I personally drove a 98 S70 with 220k miles(which I just sold-see POSITIVE feedback)! Many of my personal friends drive cars that I have sold them. I treat you no different. If I haven't covered any of your questions or concerns, please feel free to email or call me at 815.744.7223. My name is Eric. Also understand that I have the right to end the auction early due to local sale. I STILL REQUIRE a $500 deposit to be made within 24hours. Use Paypal for the deposit please.
