Vehicle Detail
Great foundation for a restoration. I was going to restore this camaro this winter but had a change of plans and am going to be traveling too much. Decided to sell because I'm not sure now when I would be able to get to it. I don't know a lot about the car as the guy I bought it from bought it in a bundle of several old cars. I was told it was used to race and was set up for it. They then started to convert it back to a street car. I am not sure how much of the car is numbers matching. It has a 350 motor that was rebuilt and seems to have some pretty good muscle. I was told that it had a 400 automatic transmission and a 12 bolt positrac rear end. As you can see it also has traction bars. I tried to get good pictures of the underside so you can see what it is. Apparently the front clip was replaced. The front fenders, the driver's door and the nose are in a little rougher shape than the orange parts which are in really good condition.Solid floors, trunk, roof, rear quarters, trunk lid and back end. It was a Van Nuys build and was said to have always been a Southern California car. I pulled it up to Washington last month had have had it in the garage. There are 3 boxes of misc parts and also a bunch of door panels and 2 front fenders. Most of the trim and boxed parts are a little scratched and scuffed up. Glass is all there but the roll up windors have some scratches, not sure if they can be buffed out. windshield has a crack on the bottom of the passenger side. My plans were to order new front fenders driver's door skin and new nose for around a thousand bucks, New wheels and tires for around a thousand bucks (it does have pretty good wheels and tires but they are not the style I like) and an interior kit which included new seat covers, head liner, carpet and door panels for $1200. There are seats but they need completely re-upholstered. The seat frames are rusty but would probably be ok to re use. I will include a few more pictures in the next day or two. I was going to do my own upholstery and paint to save several thousand dollars. I have always dreamed of restoring a 2nd generation Camaro but I guess I will have to put it on hold for awhile longer. Hopefully someone out there likes these cars the way I do and will finish her up. The engine compartment is pretty bare bones. No heater or a/c, it does have headers, an after market edlebrock manifold and a newer 4 barrel carb. The dash and guage cluster they have sitting in it are in average condition. They are not bolted up and I am not sure how well they will bolt in and match up. Tires and rims seem to be in ok condition with good tread. There are no wheel caps. I did notice a slight bit of cracking on one of the rear tires. Front disc and rear drum brakes. The rear drums were disabled and removed for racing. The brake lines for the rear brakes are in the box. Needs new guts for the drums. I can't get over how good of condition the orange painted sections of the car are in. Amazing for a 41 year old. Car starts, runs shifts, and seems mechanically ok. Newer mufflers are mounted solidly. Anyway car is being sold as is with no warrantees as to future performance. Buyer is responsible for any pick up or delivery costs. $500 due at auction end with balance due 7 days from auction end. Thanks for looking.
