Vehicle Detail

This is a NO RESERVE Auction. You are bidding on a 1965 Corvair convertible. Very nice, very fun car. The car runs and drives well and shows well. Very solid car. Body is straight. The car has had a repaint that is not perfect, but is very good. The interior is very good. The TOP IS NEW. The engine is the 167 6CYL 110HP dual carb engine. The car has been in storage for 10 + years so it needs a little TLC but overall a great iconic car. It's all there, mouldings, trim etc... This Corvair is actually my fathers car that he purchased many years ago from a personal friend and Strohl customer. It has been in storage for probably the last ten years or more. In preparation for sale we needed to do little to get it up and running. Cosmetically just a very light detail, pretty much just wash and vac. The interior is original and in very good condition with a split in the drivers seat which they all seem to have and the convertible top is "new". As far as getting it running we only needed a battery, removed and cleaned the carbs and set the points and timing. It start easily, runs a little rough at first but it improves with some time on the road. I personally drove it about 10-12 miles and of course the longer it's driven the better it runs. The brakes are a little hard but work. As with any car this age that's been in storage it needs a little TLC but all things considered I would say it is in very good condition overall. It was put into storage with a current PA inspection. I am not sure of condition or functionality of heater, fan or radio. Since this is being sold AS-IS my service manager suggests that the buyer purchase a carb kit and have them rebuilt. There are no serious rust issues. There was body & paint work done probably back in the 80's along with rust proofing that was very popular back in that time period. So again judging by other Corvairs in the market in various degrees of drivability and discussions with a local long time Corvair Club member and Strohl customer, he described this car as "very nice and it's all there".
