Vehicle Detail
I just completed a restoration of this 1971 Honda SL 350. I bought it from the son of the original owner. I have a clear WA state title in my name. It is currently registered, insured and I'm riding it around town, it's a fun bike! I set a low and reasonable reserve price for this bike. It has many new parts and an overhauled engine (the original engine). New candy apple red paint professionally applied by Two Rivers Auto Body in Missoula, Montana. There are four coats of clear (Sherwin Williams urethane paint system) over the Honda decals. There are absolutely no defects in the paint, glare in some of the photos may appear to be defects. Don't laugh at the painters bare feet in the photos below - she is a perfectionist! The frame was stripped and cleaned, it was originally purchased in Spokane, WA and lived there most of its life, so it's rust-free. It has original mufflers in excellent condition, no rust on the left side, one small hole in the right muffler that I repaired by welding. All of the chromed parts (including the handelbars) were removed and chromed by Show Quality Chrome in Seattle, except for the kick starter and the small taillight bracket that attaches the fender to the rear frame tube. Action Cycle in Tacoma overhauled the cylinder head, including a complete valve job. Delta Camshaft of Tacoma reconditioned the cam. Cylinders were bored 1st over and honed by Bore-Tech Engineering in Ohio. New pistons, rings and pins were supplied by Bore-Tech. New camshaft tensioner rollers. New Barnett clutch and springs.Carbs overhauled and new carb kits installed. New D.I.D. drive chain. New gaskets and seals through the engine and transmission. The engine has about 40 miles on it since complete overhaul. Forks were overhauled with new seals and dust covers. New tires and tubes. New clutch cable. New spokes and new brakes from Vintage Brake in California. New seat cover. New rear brake light lens. New mirrors. New battery. Charging system works perfectly - puts out over 14 volts at 3500 rpm. Electrical harness is in excellent condition and all electrical components work properly. All rubber parts were replaced with original Honda parts. Everything that wasn't replaced, was cleaned and painted and/or polished. The parts that are original and in good - but not show quality - condition are: brake cables, wheel rims, kick starter, rear fender bracket, rear shocks. The rear shocks are original and need fluid or replacement. If desired I can install a set of period-original Koni's that are in good condition and work very nicely. I did not install the Koni's on this bike because I want it to be completely and entirely original. I need to sell so I can complete the restoration on my other 71 SL350, aka the Blue Bike.
