Vehicle Detail
1970 Cadillac Fleetwood Superior Hearse / Combination This is your opportunity to own the pinnacle of Halloween props for your personal enjoyment or advertisement. Whether torturing your neighbors, scaring the neighborhood children or heck even a daily driver for those with an attitude, this car gets more looks than my other, shall we say more mainstream customs. This particular hearse has been my personal project, prop, and advertising mobile billboard for a local Haunted House in Washington, IN – “Haunted High II”. This Haunted House has been in operation since about 2006 and has become very popular locally supporting the Booster Club for Washington Catholic Schools. I am “Grimley Reaper” and you can view my profile on Facebook and look thru the several postings of the car in use as well as the Facebook profile for “Haunted High II”. For those who may not be local this will at least give credence to the use of the vehicle as it is regularly driven in parades, attends car cruise ins and shows, stops by local football games and has been parked outside the haunted house while in operation since 2008. THE ONLY TIME I USE THE CAR IS MID SEPTEMBER THRU OCTOBER AND ONLY IN COSTUME! The car is stored however insured and registered at all times. Reason for selling, need the money to cover tuition costs for my 2 children as well as one in college, and I also need the storage spot. I got this car from a good friend who cherished it as much as I have. Please do not let this car go to parts vulchers or demo derby enthusiasts while it is in your control to look after her. You’ve heard about Karma, don’t tick off this car. Details: 1970 “Fleetwood” Hearse Vin #: Z0274160 Title: Clear and in hand Mechanicals: 472 C.I. V8 Engine 4 barrel Quadrajet carb, points ignition, Auto transmission. FR Disc Brakes. I am not scared to hop in and start this car at any time. The manual choke helps when the temperature outside drops in October, and she does fine. Car stops as well if not better than you should expect. She likes high octane fuel. Low octane she doesn't run as well. Items I have addressed since July of 2008:New Brake master Cylinder, New Fr Rotor, pads, wheel bearings, glass pack muffler, hangers and tailpipe, 4 new P215/60R15 tires, new fuel tank, sending unit, fuel lines, electric fuel pump, new plugs, rotor, cap, points, condenser, plug wires, battery, battery cables, starter, paint, and all kinds of little small items I can’t even begin to mention. Sony XPlod CD with Aux jack, Sony XPlod Amp, 2 Sony Xplod 6x9’s up front in boxes, Sony Xplod 10”Sub in box up front, and Sony Xplod 12” sub in the back in a box. Programmable siren, PA. Rotating funeral light on roof in traditional purple. Green accent lights in grill. Green neon (2 entire vehicle kits worth) under car and inside RR cabin. I will now try to describe as accurately as possible to the best of my knowledge any short falls with the car. I want you to make a sound decision and enjoy your purchase without any reason for regret. I know there is a rust hole just under the gas pedal in the drivers floor board. I think last I looked it was maybe 3 inches? I had the car on a lift to change the oil and noticed that this spot is worse than I originally thought. The drivers floor board needs rebuilt with new sheet metal. Heat / AC / Defrost do not function. Door lock “keys” do not function. Front RH and LH window regulators will not roll all the way up currently. I have had these things apart several times trying different clips to hold the glass to the regulator rails with no luck. I think this is where the problem is right now. I did have them working perfectly at one time. Dome light does not work. Gas gauge does not work. Odometer / Speedometer quit working last year. I believe the cable broke which can be typical for cars this age. The odometer is incorrect. RR “Casket Door” outside handle is difficult to operate and requires a lot of force to open at times. Paint is 5 years old and was a quick job to get me working for the 2008 Haunted House season. The paint is rough. The car was painted outside because I could not fit it in my garage and get all the way around it to paint. Air pressure was not good and had negative affects on the paint quality. There is some bondo in the Rear RH qtr panel to repair a dent, not rust above the wheel opening. The bottom of the RR casket door is in extremely bad condition and has bondo. The door is relatively flat but is quartered in this area. A decent metal brake and a mig welder could have this perfect in an afternoon. Original color was Charcoal grey with black top, silver and black interior. There are typical chips and scratches. There are bubbles coming thru on the fender skirts and above the RR drivers fender. Typical bubbling behind the skirts. Last year I roughed in some flames in silver paint. Looks good from a distance. It is not flawless by any means. At one time there was an electrical short on the main hot wire from the battery to the starter. This would drain the battery. As I was trouble shooting it, I eventually just kept the positive cable off when the car was not in use. I have since found the issue and replaced the hot and ground as well as the starter and battery. I still take off the hot lead so to my knowledge everything is OK here but want to be honest. The front glass cracked about a year ago. I ran out of storage and the car set in the weather. The glass cracked over the winter and the paint began to crack around the bottom of the RR side glasses. This area is fiberglass from the factory and difficult to get to without removing a lot of chrome trim. Storage area in the rear cabin on the right hand side just inside the door has rusted out the bottom. I have the door to cover it, but the bottom was exposed to road salt via the rear wheels and apparently did the trick. There is rust in the bottom of all the doors. I wish I would have put a taller tire on it, because the low profiles don’t ride or corner as nice in a car this heavy. It is an old car and has a few leaks here and there. It isn't spotless by any means, but it is a ton of fun and is a great way to transport items for your business or to use as advertising. The car will be available for viewing locally the following times and locations: October 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27 are all planned Haunted House dates for the hearse provided it has not sold yet. The car will be there if I am. Ask for Grim if you are not aware who I am. Purchase and Shipping: I am setting a buy it now basically to give someone the ability to purchase the car earlier than the ten day auction since Halloween is right around the corner. A deposit of $500 is due certified mail, cashiers check within 5 days of auctions end. Full payment is due within 10 days of the end of auction cash in my hand or certified check sent certified insured US mail within ten days of auction end. You can deliver the money to me in person if you pick up during that time. Auction is for pick up only. I WILL NOT SHIP, meaning if you want to coordinate with a shipper, I will let you do that after you pay me. I will not attend to shippers special requests to drain fluids, ensure ground clearance etc. Car must be picked up by October 31. Car is for sale locally and I reserve the right to end the auction early. Cash in my hand during the Haunted House may very well land you this rare ride in person. PROPS - CASKET, JACK O LANTERNS, ETC DO NOT GO WITH THE CAR - NO EXCEPTIONS SO DON'T ASK! Car is sold as is, no warranties expressed or implied. I have done my best to document the true condition of this car. It is 42 years old, and the gravity of its mass has had an affect on it. Please NO “Deceased” BEAT BIDDERS!!!!!! Karma…..well you know. I will leave feed back. Do not bid if you need to ask your mom or your wife or you aren't sure if you can get the money.
