Vehicle Detail
"BMW's 3 Series is about as slam-dunk-wonderful a car as there is available. The 3 Series enjoys a well-deserved reputation for packing outstanding driving dynamics, excellent quality and undeniable prestige into handsome sheet metal. It's the standard against which all other small sport sedans are, and must be, measured." - Edmunds Up for auction is an exceptional 1999 BMW E46 323i with just under 130,000 miles. Don’t let the age or mileage fool you – this is a great car that still looks and drives like new. Most of my newer friends think it’s a late model BMW and I can’t say I’ve ever been embarrassed to be seen in it. J It has very minor blemishes here and there, but far less than you would expect to see on a vehicle of this age. I have taken excellent care of it during the ten + years that I have been the owner and it has been just as reliable as any Japanese car out there. The car is still very solid feeling and the steering is still sharp and tight. These engines are near bullet-proof and this one is still as strong and smooth as the day I bought it. If properly maintained, I believe it could perform as well for another 100,000 miles. I have tried to include most of the important stuff below, but if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Highlights 2.5L Inline 6 Cylinder Engine 4 Speed Automatic TransmissionABSDSC (Dynamic Stability Control)CBC (Cornering Brake Control)10-way manual adjustable sport seats3-spoke sport wheelSport-tuned suspension 16” V-Spoke Sport Alloy Wheels Upgrades & Enhancements: Bilstein shocks in the rear and new Meyle aluminum control arms with urethane bushings in the front.Akebono Ceramic Pads (almost no brake dust)Rare M-Technic front spoiler.Upgraded Headlight units with projector lamps and halos (less than 1 year old)Alpine iDA-X305 MP3/WMA/AAC Receiver with USB cable for iPod and iPhone IntegrationAlpine PXA-H100 IMPRINT Audyssey Audio Processor & Imprint Sound Manager kit (KTX-H100) (All books included)1 Alpine 4 Channel Amp MRP-F450 (70W x 4)3M Di-Noc Carbon Fiber wrapped trim“BMW Special Edition” door sill badges.Tires & BrakesFront: At least 50% tread remaining Rear: At least 80% tread remainingInspected in March 0f 2012 – Mechanic stated “brake pads are like new” Appearance Inside Very minor signs of wear can be found inside the cockpit. The center console with armrest is only 4 years old. The cup holder insert is less than 1 year. The real ashtray roller cover is gone but can be easily replaced. The leatherette is very durable and still looks great minus a few blemishes shown in the pics. The gear selector does not hide the non-selected gears properly, although it works just fine (a $75 part on ebay). All other controls work as expected except the steering mounted audio controls. An inexpensive adapter can be purchased for the stereo so that these will work again. Outside Paint is original factory except for the front bumper and hood.Wheels are in very good to excellent condition with no “curb rash”.Very few minor dings here and there – much less than what you would expect to find on a car of this age.Windshield was cracked by a rock and replaced either late last year or early this year. I replaced the windshield cowl in 2011.All trim and weather stripping is in great shape. Never had any wind noise or leakage anywhere in the car. Engine The engine is near bullet-proof and continues to run as strong and as smooth as the day I bought it. If it is properly maintained, I believe it could easily perform as well for another 100,000 miles.Mileage: just under 130,000 miles (see pic)I replaced the starter motor last year. Belts replaced this year.I have used nothing but Mobile 1 Synthetic and have always changed oil between 3-4000 miles.New plugs installed around 125,000. Transmission Changed transmission fluid about every 2 years with Redline synthetic ATF. A/C The Heater and defroster works great, but the A/C stopped blowing cold air this year. I believe that it may just need to be evacuated and refrigerant added.
