Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 ’64 GALAXIE 500XL CONVERTIBLE **RELISTED – LOWER RESERVE & BUY-IT-NOW** This is a 97% complete and rust-free car that has never had any rust repair (other than grinding off some surface rust), been painted once 20+ years ago, and will make a very good basis for restoration, or could be a nice driver with mechanical work. Original color was Guardsman Blue. I used it as a frequent summer driver for many years until recently. Have owned it over 20 years. DETAILS: ~Body is straight and the only rust-through that needs to be dealt with is the dogleg on the right quarter panel, and the battery tray is rusted out. Rear quarters, fenders, rockers, floors, trunk floor and frame are all excellent. You may want to strip paint, but overall bodywork will be minimal. ~Most trim is in good shape, including the rear bumper which is not rusted through from the inside like they generally do. Dash pad is not perfect but pretty close. ~Power top works fine, brakes just redone including new master cylinder, exhaust is 10 years old but in excellent shape except one leaking manifold gasket. Side glass is fine, windshield has a wiper scratch and is chipped where the rear view mirror attached. ~Originally a 390/3speed, it now has a ’64 352/auto. NEEDS: ~It runs and drives, engine is sound and trans. shifts fine, but needs carb. rebuilt and rolls in park. ~More than anything else it needs a full front suspension rebuild. Steering very loose, bushings, tie rod ends etc. all need replacement. ~To state the obvious by the pictures, the top is basically gone. I think it’s the original and has glass rear window. Seats need recovering (readily available). I do have the sunvisors, but the metal bracket on one is broken. *EXTRA PARTS:* I have lots of trim and small mechanical parts that will go with it. Shop manual included. I’ll try to add pictures of parts later. The XL badges are missing from the front fenders and so are the XL medallions from the quarters. *I also have extra fenders, doors complete with tinted glass, a hood and a front bumper that will be available to the buyer at very reasonable cost. The main advantage to the spare sheetmetal is that it was all taken off a parts car and stored since around 1980. Super solid and straight.
